Anyone change the following?

Was wondering has anyone change their spark plug wires, distributor cap, and ignition rotor?

Anyone using ngk premium spark plug wires? if so did you feel the difference?

yea it's called a "tune up"

lots of people use NGK wires, as far as i'm aware they're good but not really "life-alteringly better than stock" or anything.

It will make it "life alteringly better" if any / all of those components are worn out...

New wires vs busted up old ones = major difference

Well, provided OEM one's are $100+ for ignition wires those would be out of the question if I had a VG. At Advance the three major brands we sell are Autolite, Xact, and NGK. The Autolite's are usually $3-10 under the NGK's, while the the Xacts are usually $10-15 less than the Autolite's. Xact wires are usually 6mm, and most people end up returning them because they go to remove them and the boot breaks off and stays snugly wrapped around the spark plug. Autolite is mostly 7mm, and in some events I've seen the NGK's to be 8mm- IIRC the one's for the VG are. IMO the NGK's are worth the extra few dollars for what appear to be a better, less returned, higher customer satisfactory product.

As far as the cap and rotor go, they are only so complex- so the only thing I would particularly look for were brass contacts- BWD Select's ignition components always use brass contacts and are only a few more bucks- no need in spending $100+ for NGK or OEM caps.

I recommend NGK plugs and wires. IIRC, a set of NGK wires will run you about $70.

oh of course, but i meant NGK won't be life-alteringly better compared to new OEM wires, not the old nasty used ones. not until you're making way more than stock power to begin with, at least.

how did you like your ngks when putting it on? instead of the oem ones. And are you running iridiums with those wires?

i put everything on today, the NGK wires, yec distributor cap, and Yec ignition rotor. it feels great. very smooth. i noticed the previous rotor is pretty bad condition. if you guys are interested you can buy from this link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

i didnt need everything so i bought only the distributor cap and rotor, their price for those is cheaper than autopartswarehouse.com, but the ngk wires they sold it separately for 90 so i bought it elsewhere. i bought it from autopartswarehouse.com for 78 with free shipping. pretty worth it.

this might be a stupid question , but what is the PCV valve actually do, and would it make a big difference if i change it?

I just recently bought a new set of wires from Autozone. I think they are the Xact brand. Pretty decent and didnt put a hole in my wallet. I purchased a rotor also and new pcv valve, new power steering hoses, and new top radiator hose and cap, I am thinking about going bak to the stock set up on the air filter though as I am not looking for more power at this point. The only other thing I may have to do is replace the fuel filter.

Yeah I already installed everything. The pcv is one of the easiest to do on the VG engine.

my car was just really shaky using platinum 2s and turns out they were in pretty bad shape when i took them out. you should check them from time to time. heres a pics of how it looked like when i took them out :

you should definitely upgrade to ngk, they work great. i think Bosch plugs work better on euro cars. my friend drives a bimmer, it works for him just fine.

Bosch has always sucked in japanese cars or force inducted cars since I was a young 18 yr old kid! They seem to work in german/ euro cars only!

I once tried to use Bosh plugs in my car, but they made my gas mileage suck, and the car was a little harder to start at times, so I took them out and got NGK platinums and no more problems.

Most companies have stopped using bosch at the OE level for plugs. NGK and Denso have become the primary OE suppliers for spark plugs outside the US.
