New Car Y'aLL! (OG's wur you at?)

So with pearly's transmission blown.. she's gonna be down for the count while I do the 5-spd swap/control arms/front+rear sway bars/a few oil and power steering leaks/some random mods..... etc. So I needed a car to get to work and back in the meantime... I just happened to stumble upon this for dirt cheap...

1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R
120k miles
SR20DE
5-spd
LSD
IRS
New clutch at 94k
New paint job in December (including jams and hood)
New alternator/battery (today- the seller covered it)

excuse the blurry sub-par pictures... camera wouldn't focus and the batteries kept going dead. But this is what really got me:

It needs a new headliner, valve cover gasket, CV boot (not clacking yet), and the passenger hand side tail light has a crack/hole in it on the very corner... but other than that I couldn't be more happy.

I know it's FWD and all, but all I can think is SR20DET

Wow, looks awesome. I always loved those things. I hardly EVER see any of those around, and the few I have seen in the past few years have always been red.

Is the new paint job nice or is it a kind of cheapo one? And that interior looks flawless!

i actually had some b1tch nail the horn at me backing out of my driveway a couple of weeks ago because i took too long to shift

downshifting while moving? Yes. Drop shifts from a stop? Hail no, but I can't say I wasn't harder on it than most drivers- it was a tired unit from the get-go though...

This one used to be red, but was stripped and painted- I can see a few hard to get to spots in the engine bay need to be touched up, but I can't complain. It isn't a showcar quality paint job by any means- probably in the range of $800-1000- but better than 1993 stock nissan factory paint

Yeah, the interior just threw me, not what I expected, it had a steering wheel cover so I assumed the wheel was typical for age.. but it was in great condition (I guess from the cover..?) the headliner is a bit sad right now, but I want to pick out something cool to do up there.. I basically just have to pay for the price of materials since I have a friend from work (advance) helping me put it in. Any Idea's?

when the max is running either boost the **** out of that thing or do a VQ35 swap.....

if power is not what u want to do, those little sentras can be nasty on the autoX with some coilovers and wide rubber.

start saving for a GTiR engine.

Oh, and transmission fixes. 5th gear pop out.

I was looking into those -- they are great cars all around. Handle very well and awesome sleeper car. There are several in the Northwest with swaps. I talked with a guy a few days ago that has one and I think he said it's around 300 whp with minimal mods.

I want to do intake/headers/UDP/flywheel- I need to research the b13 more past those though, not sure how beneficial putting money into a post header exhaust system is. I was reading a little and saw that like the max these things have barely any strut clearance... but finding some way to lower and beef up suspension through semi-inexpensice chassis braces/swaybars is definitely on my to-do- along with wheels and tires- but this is thinking longer term.

I've read about the 5th gear pop out on SR20 forum, hopefully it won't show it's *** anytime soon.

They are a nice little package, all around. Some people might ***** that it's not RWD- but for getting around town quickly (and on a budget with gas!) it's wonderful. Truly a blast to drive, extremely maneuverable, great turn radius (I feel like I'm pivoting off of the back wheel compared to the 3rd gen)- and a lot of aftermarket support as I'm finding. Kind of a cult car I've always had a secret obsession about. But there's something to be said about that early 90's 'pioneer's' of sport compact cars feel though. Nissan was making some good car's there for a while.

hah, I do think the squatted with wide tires look would go really well with the body style. I'm a conservative as far as going all out. Function over form for daily use.

Yeah, would make a cool project car, people do some really cool things with them. Some of the one's in this video are pretty neat- minus the ghey music.

Aw u lucky S.O.B. I'm of course older than the car but have only seen one as an SE R up until 2 weeks ago for the first time ever. You rarely see those down here in Texas. You'll have a better chance at catching a regular one or a s12 before you see that. DON'T LET IT GO!

psh he's been talking about doing a 5spd swap since at least late 2008... I was originally planning on taking his a/t back to try and figure out the electronics needed to make a VE auto tranny work on a VG motor. Never got around to it tho.

I think I've seen this one... he took the RWD setup from an older sentra right? Thing was beastly.

Definitely keeping the max, it's been needing work and I haven't had time to have the car down for me to work on it so I've basically been driving it into the ground. It needs a lot of front end chassis/suspension work (not that hard), of course the 5-spd swap and all the goodies (ACT, Fidanza, stainless braided lines) and some other random annoying stuff... I just want to rip her apart and do it all at once to save the headache. If I get pissed off at her, I can walk away and go drive the sentra for a while and come back.

Hell keep it stock! It's clean or do you just really know how to detail? I see the later Sentras getting hooked up with VQ35 swaps, but I'm not sure the VQ35 will fit in that platform without major modifications....but it's definitely a smaller car with a good chassis and plenty of parts available....I would go the stock route until you finish your beauty (93 Max), maybe throw a few bolt-ons at it......

yeah it looks good man...love how clean the interior is on it...i'd just throw a few simple bolt on on it...and maybe some exterior mods but thats pretty much my style anyways lol...conserve that gas mileage cause gas prices aint gonna ever be the same as they were 3-4 years ago lol...man and back then i thought a gallon of gas was high..now im begging for that price per gallon 3-4 years ago lol

That is bada**! I had 2 "classic" B13s. 1991 and 1993. The SR20 is an amazing, easy to work on, reliable, cheap motor that makes great power/torque for the B13 chassis! With the clutch being fairly new (I think you said it was replaced about 30k ago), you should be able to chirp 3rd pretty easily. The whole 5th gear popout thing is something you usually either have or you dont. It all depends on who owned the car previously and how they drove. I've heard that it happens due to the driver resting their hand (and the weight of their arm) on the shifter for long periods of time while cruising in 5th gear (thus warping the shift forks). Both of my B13s did NOT have the problem when I bought them and neither developed it. It can be rebuilt for $350 in parts (Courtesy Nissan 5th gear pop-out kit) and about 3 hours start to finish. You could also do a B15 or P11 trans swap (the limited slip models go for about $1000-$1200 with low miles) that is a much beefier trans. It will go in with minor modification. It looks like you got a hell of a clean B13, congrats! Also, the site SR20forum.com is VERY helpful.
