That's an awesome addition to your Nissan family, Pearl. My brother has one of those up in DC. I'm hoping he will drive it down here so I can work on it since it's just sitting there while he's in NYC. We just got a cheap B14 200SX 5spd at work that I am thinking to get since my VG auto trans is also starting to go out. Unfortunately it is only the GA16DE and the 5th gear pop out is already a problem, but heck, that motor gets 30city/40hwy mpg, a far cry better than the current problem ridden injectors and slipping tranny in my Max. As it is I averaging a little better than 10 mpg in the Max.
So, good luck with the SE-R. Looks like these cars are light as hell, ~ 2426 lbs stock B13 SE-R or 2366 lbs stock B14 SE, so any power adders will certainly make them move! Check out the SR20VE swap. I think it's 187hp stock. We should get together sometime. I'm finally getting more going with the cars since I'm working as a mechanic at my buddy's dealership here in Gainesville. Let me know if you have any leads on a VE5spd swap for a good price for the Max. Thanks. Later.

good buy, you will have alot of fun in that car. I do in mine, suspension mods would be road magnet springs/kyb agx struts, FSTB/RSTB, RSB, LCA brace all of which I have on mine minus the RM springs as I have old school eibachs. The car rotates well during cornering and the LSD makes it all the better. Other things are changing the LCA bushings to energy suspension ones, but don't touch the rear as they will make it bind. Prothane makes engine/tranny mounts as well as ES does inserts.
An upgrade on brakes is to get the AD22VFs that come on the 91-94 NX2000, but you will have to change to either nx or b14 rims as stockers will rub caliper. For power upgrades any intake will do good, SSAC header or ebay header makes good power, jwt ecus are dirty cheap now that there is a self tune ecu made by calum. JWT, tomei, BC all make cams which aren't hard to install. Bolt ons to a SR20 can make around 25-35whp over stock.

That is bada**! I had 2 "classic" B13s. 1991 and 1993. The SR20 is an amazing, easy to work on, reliable, cheap motor that makes great power/torque for the B13 chassis! With the clutch being fairly new (I think you said it was replaced about 30k ago), you should be able to chirp 3rd pretty easily. The whole 5th gear popout thing is something you usually either have or you don't. It all depends on who owned the car previously and how they drove. I've heard that it happens due to the driver resting their hand (and the weight of their arm) on the shifter for long periods of time while cruising in 5th gear (thus warping the shift forks). Both of my B13s did NOT have the problem when I bought them and neither developed it. It can be rebuilt for $350 in parts (Courtesy Nissan 5th gear pop-out kit) and about 3 hours start to finish. You could also do a B15 or P11 trans swap (the limited slip models go for about $1000-$1200 with low miles) that is a much beefier trans. It will go in with minor modification. It looks like you got a hell of a clean B13, congrats! Also, the site SR20forum.com is VERY helpful.
I can chirp second, but not third- I don't know whether this is due to me getting used to the clutch, or it needing a tune up. I don't know how recent the last tune up it had was- but it does seem like it could rev up quicker. I'm gonna do a pretty thorough tune up the next couple of days I get off just to make sure I'm getting all the power that can be had. Still though, very quick engine for the size of the car.

The B14 sounds like a catch... could be a good DD if nothing else- but a better project car! My friend had one with the GA and it was still a peppy car- auto though.. I'll keep my eyes open for any and all VE's (like I usually am) and let you know if I come across any.
