Not Riding Dirty Anymore!

Was able to get all the paperwork squared away on my 1990 SE Maxima...
The easy part was Insurance,...The hard part was transferring the title from the previous owner whom acted like she wasn't interested in getting her name off the title....Hell maybe I should have robbed a bank in it...LOL!!! The last part was the vehicle inspection... I passed with flying colors with headers/cams/ignition system/port work/modified fuel system/etc...

Texas Standard @ 25 mph My Readings Tx standard @ 15 mph
HC(PPM) 157 18 21 162
CO(%) 1.00 00.00 00.00 .91
CO2(%)
O2(%)
NOx(PPM) 1121 506 490 1227
Dilution(%) >6 13.9 13.9 >6
Really happy with the outcome....still breaking it in....I can feel that the exhaust system @ 2" is too small, it's peppy @ part throttle but @ full throttle is being smothered....so soon there will be an exhaust upgrade coming soon!

Yeah, Your car looks nice too...I was checking it out cause it is dropped with some nice wheels....Where's your Maxima?
Had a Tundra on my butt over on 288, that decided once I moved to the middle lane to nail his throttle and show me his bruteforce of his "Not So Big" 4.7L V-8....Well I decided to step into the throttle while cruisin @ about 75 mph, since he'd step into full throttle....Well I pushed the throttle in about 1"-1.5" and rpms never went above 3300rpm and I walked this guy like he had his brakes on....Still running the Oem ecu....I'll be swapping in the JWT Ecu soon but I'm just enjoying how nice this car cruises on the highway at speed....and trying to break this engine in and do a good shakedown by piling up the miles here in Houston with all these roads and highways, I can clock 100 miles in one night just cruisin around here...

Nice to see a 90 back on the road in good shape. I really like the 3rd gens and they're becoming a bit more scarce. I hardly see them at the JYs now

Cool deal.. glad it's running good. Can't wait to see some dyno and/or track numbers

Although, why did you wait so long to transfer the title?

Wasn't ready to drive it when I originally bought it and transferring a title here in Texas means putting insurance and I didn't want to do that just to transfer the title......and after a few months I found a deep gouge in the cylinder wall of 2 cylinders....And I was busy working 3 months without any days off several times within the next few years, plus working on everyone elses vehicles I kinda did a little to mine when I had time.....and it turned into a 4 yr project. Within the time frame I built 3 engines including my own and modded/repaired I can't tell you, how many other vehicles, plus remodeling one of my bathrooms...just really alot on my plate...maybe too much....hope that answered your question........

They're still on the roads alot here in Houston, but there are alot of dogs out there....but the junkyard is always full of mostly 3rd and 2nd gen's and I'm starting to see more and more 4th gen's now and then....I'm really impressed with the handling ability of this car, it seems to be a really nice highway car as well. Very stable and responsive, took some sweepers @ 55-60 mph and no tire squeal at all....a little bit of body lean but excellent grip!

Hey I'm going to go get mine insured Wed. and do the title transfer and legal work the day after my B-day next week. So I should have a similar thread to this at the beginning of next month. Oh yeah remember I'm going to get that title transfer form off of you so I don't have to stand in line.

I definitely hear you guys on the title thing, I was just wondering. Keep in mind I'm in Texas too so I had to do the same process. I didn't get my blue VE title transferred to me until like 2 years after I had it (as it was just sitting in the driveway). BUT, before I started dumping money into it (when I finally got around to working on it) I transferred the title. Since I dumped about $3k into it (and it still needs body work and paint), I would've been pissed to dump all that money into it and THEN have trouble with the title. So, I just did the title right before I started dumping serious money into it

Well you know as long as I had the title in my hands I was cool, but I wasn't gonna pay for that over 20 day penalty either....But it's done, thank god! Once I make it to 179K, I'll take it to the track and possibly run some Gtech #'s on it! for some other times like 0-100 mph etc....

How fast is a VE? It's feels like it might give my 5.5 Gen a good run on the freeway and stoplight to stoplight!

IMO, these are awesome highway cars. It's even better with Eibachs and decent struts. I drove my first VE5 over 100k total all stock, 50k in one year!

I pretty much only drive mine on wide open highways and I love it. I like the seating position, handling and how quiet it is (my 92 is quieter than my friends' 2009 Civic on the freeway). I was getting 30 mpg until 2 years ago when Oregon mandated 10 percent ethanol, so now it's like 26-27 mpg.

This is a big reason I have trouble getting rid of it. I still take several trips a year by myself and it's a great traveling rig.

The only things I don't like are the weak headlights (I am spoiled with HIDs on my FX35) and the lack of storage/cupholders. I usually just buy stuff with lids like gatorade and put it next to the e-brake. I have a little cooler that fits perfectly behind the passenger seat, too.

I'll be searching for some 4"-5" tall collars to bond to the inside of the glovebox door. Also make some cup holders to attach to the doors without looking to ghetto!
Definitely very surefooted and composed during high speed driving....I hope I can get 30 mpg....but I'll have too drive it like an old lady more often than not....too acheive those #'s......
