$1500 to spend

Howdy all,

I've sold a few bits on ebay and have $1500 approx sitting in my paypal account. Paypal charges a fortune to turn it in to £'s and sent it to my bank so I thought I might aswell spend it on my Max.

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Im running an SE (with VG in) Auto.

Things I need to replace :-

Injectors
Spark Leads
Filters (fuel, Oil etc)
Brake Pads

Things Im thinking of getting :-

Pacesetter manifolds
CAI
Lowered Suspention
New Wheels

The car is going to be out for a month or so as I want to do a rebuild on it (getting old and crappy UK weather taking it's toll)

Any Suggestions

I recommend not buying the Pacesetter headers. they're crapola by all accounts.

for suspension, look at Eibach & Tokico for quality and ride and price. Eibach and Koni if you want GOOD shocks. they're the best available for the Maxima. after shipping that will probably eat most of your $1500.

for $1500 i'd say do a 5spd swap unless you really like having the automatic. cuz the vg's auto tranny is kinda suicidal. but then again if you're in the UK, sourcing the 5spd parts could be difficult as i think they were all auto up there right?

In all my searching I have only come across 1 other 3rd gen in the UK (was Auto).

Engine is going to get most attention for now. Will have more to spend on it in a few months.

The exhaust headers could do with being replaced at some point as they have started to go rotten.

no the problem with pacesetters is that brand new, out of the box, they don't fit right. something in the engine bay blocks them from fitting without touching it or something like that.

Just been reading up on them. Cheers for the heads up.

Think I'll just get a warp speed y.

Any recommendation on engine components?

Im going to get the tranny rebuilt in a few months time.

sucks about the scarcity of the car. I could buy a fairly nice 3rd gen for $1500.

I would probably do the things you need first. Of your want list, I would put suspension high up. It is the most noticeable benefit for the person driving the car.

I think you should just replace everything that's needed and see how much you have left...cause its better to run the car w/o worrying about replacing anything then if you have some money left, get coils
that's just my opinion

this.
unless you are dead-set on performance, then I would say warpspeed-y, toks and eibachs.

Am preety much after performance at the mo. Would like to drop in a VE but you can't get them over here .

Going to order a y tomorrow along with a high-flow cat.

Looking at decent spark plugs, Ht leads (I think you call them spark leads?), new distributor, injectors, removing ERG (not needed for UK emissions), and a general rebuild (piston rings, valves etc.

That will prob take up most, if not all, of the budget.

And advice on what products are the best. In the uk we are pretty limited for parts (Nissan wants £200 ($300) per injector and I have to wait for them to come from the states anyhow !!!)

I would take care of all the maintenance and then spend the rest on increasing the engine airflow on the intake and exhaust sides. If you plan on a rebuild too then you'll need more money...
