SO HAPPY!! :D
Good freakin god man....can we repo this car for all things good about Maximas...this car is being ghettofied!..I initially praised you for doing what you want but holy hell man, step away from the grinder.
im hoping that that gives the tire enough room to travel. and im pretty sure i accomplished that cuz that lip was pretty big. u cant even see the cut unless u look under the car.. lol

ask that same question to anybody that puts rims on a car. theres nuthing wrong with the stock rims.. but i wanted something different. i like the style of the rims so thats why i put them on.
-Steel is usually heavier than aluminum/alloy
-They're the wrong size and not meant for the Max
-They stick out like lowrider wheels

-You had to cut a perfectly good fender for wheels that aren't even 1-2 inches larger in diameter. Here in Chicago, we wish we came across mint rust free fenders more often and here you are choppin away

If it makes you happy, then go for it but know you will be getting lots of negative comments about it
Im no fortune teller but I am willing to bet that in the near future we see a post along these lines from this kid:
"I keep blowin out my rear tires....HELP"
And I hear that max saying:
"OHHHHH MYYYYY FF*%*%&&#*#&*@*@ING GOD! Get me out of here!"

i understood the hate for the rims.. "wrong offset" "looks ugly" blah blah..
but u guys are flipping your **** over a FENDER LIP!
really?.
how much rust can that little cut really accumulate?
i relize that the steel rim is heavier. im not shooting for performance. im triying to make the car look the way i want it to.
i really didnt expect to get any sort of hate becuz of a fender lip. i think i missed the memo about everybody getting pissed at a guy for cuting a lip on a fender.

Personally, I'm not hating on the rust/looks. I think it actually looks decent. Some of the guys just don't know what it's like to not have major rust issues so the thought of having exposed metal for a few days freaks them out
But the point of rolling/hammering fenders is to make a less sharp/protruding overhang to cut up the tires. You'd have been better off hammering the lip up to make it more blunt, thus not cutting your tires even worse. That's all *I'm* saying..

that lip was like two layers of like 1/16th inch steel or watever.
i tried to roll it with a pipe but since the car isint flush i had nothing to use as leverage. i coulda bent it with a hammer but.. idk. i figured this would be more consistent and alot less time consuming.

Ding ding ding... I'm over here battling rust (You saw my "Coming alive" thread) and trying to make my car rust free and decent looking while you're welcoming rust by cutting. I could care less what you do to your Max but in the long run if you plan on keeping the car, further rusting can continue to develop if metal is exposed to moisture/air.
Fenders arent so much of an issue since you can just unbolt them but I hope you didnt grind the quarter panel lip too

Rust will happen anywhere given enough time. Especially if you're near the ocean, which you're fortunately not.
The proper way to roll fenders is none of the ways you did it. It's one thing to do things "cheap and quick", but to take a hammer and a grinder to your car isn't it. you STILL need to go in there and smooth off the edges, properly roll the lip (at minimum, use a baseball bat or go to a shop that has a fender roller and pay them $50 to do it right!), then sand off the cracked & damaged paint and respray.
Since you didn't bother to do it right the first time, you're going to have to spray the entire fender lip, not just any minor dings you did while doing the job.
Had you done it properly (at a shop, with the right tools), it would have cost you $50 in labor, 1 hour of your time, and you wouldn't have to grind, hammer, or repaint anything.
Nonetheless, there's absolutely NO way you're going to get those wheels & tires to keep from rubbing on your car unless you completely remove the fenders and use bolt-on flares. The wheel just stick out too damn far becuase you couldn't be bothered to look for wheels of the proper offset before you started.

lol +1, i WISH i could be rust free. even a little spot will spread, mine started around the screws on the wheelwell mudguards and it spread all the way to the back bumper
i fixed it all, and someone or something scraped my front wheel well and exposed a bit of metal, about a square CM only was showing about 3 months ago. now, that little spot has spread to a at least 3"x3" patch i have to fix

so just as an update i wanna say that this worked exacly as i planned.. i had 4 people in the back seat today. usually the back tires would scrub on the lip of the fender constantly. but tonight i didnt hear it scrub a single time.
The rust argument is moot, he'll have far more pressing issues by the time rust becomes a problem.
Hatmanafro, not really sure what you are trying to achieve? It must be purely aesthetic + high school boredom because you'd be miles ahead if you'd just bought a new set of tires for the stock wheels :-/

those are some nice cuts in your sidewall bro. In the near future when you are going out to find some new tires cuz your old ones blew out on you try and get some lower profile tires it would solve alot of your problems.

Just sell them on Craigslist and buy something that fits your car.
Usually, there are lots of options, just not some 15x9s off of a truck. haha
If you want black, you can find some stock wheels from a newer Max or something and paint them. I did that with some 2005 Maxima wheels I bought for $100. I just need to get some tires for them.
