Getting back my max

Never thought it would happen..

Little back story, I got into an accident about 3 months ago and insurance declared my car totaled. Gave me a check and scraped the car, they asked me if I wanted to buy it back and I said yes and that the JY would call me (thinking it would take a couple weeks for the JY to call me).

Anyways after a couple of months I gave up on it thinking it was probably crushed. They called me today asking me if I was interested in buying it back, they told me it took this long because of paperwork.

They are asking 300$ for it, it's a good deal considering how much money I put into it and it still ran after the accident. There was nothing to fix on it except replace two bad injectors which I was about to do when it happened.

Now the catch, since the insurance declared it a total loss it would need to pass inspection to be road legal again. As much as I want it to be, it will still cost too much to pass inspection.

I'm thinking about buying it back, buying another max and keep this one for parts car, at 300$ and I know its been taken care of and a lot of parts are almost new its a damn good price for a parts car.

If I end up not buying another max, I will part it out on here. Still making more than 300$

You guys might get a 3rd gen member back! Made my day!

Why do you say it will cost too much to pass inspection?

1) Need to pay to do inspection
2) Frame was probably bent during the accident, right there wont pass.
3) There will probably be more stuff they will find that I need to fix before it can be road legal again. Like rust for example.

= too much $$$ if I can just find another maxima, hopefully VE5. and just transfer stuff.

I'll look into it once I get it back and see what my options are.

Haha yes, but sadly I've never seen one around here. Would have to buy one in the states and import it. Would be worth it since it would be rust free (depending where I buy it)

Wouldn't you have a spare one for sale :P

And I did it, I bought it back

WTF is the junkyard selling it to you for? The insurance company is supposed to sell you the car for a "salvage value".

I got my car back twice for about $100 each time.

That's what I thought at first, but the insurance company I'm with don't deal with that, they told me if I wanted the car back I would have to go through the JY.
