Lets date myself. Looking for pics with CF hood, trunk or otherwise a black out
I've always liked that contrast look between the hood or trunk when they are a different color compared to the body. No need to inform me that the look is played, or to each his own, or any other non related comments. Besides, I still got a aftermarket tape cassett in my 3rd gen for over 12yrs.
* For you iPod and MP3 gear heads, Goggle tape cassett and you'll see what I'm talking about
A long time ago I remember a couple 3rd geners purchase CF hoods and I don't know if CF trunks ever became available. Some took a different route by painting the hood or trunk. And with vinyl wraps being available, that's another possible route.
I just want to see pics of 3rd gens with that look. Not a close up pic, but more of a full view pic. I would really like to see how the body lines and contour of the 3rd gens looks with a black out hood/trunk. It doesn't matter what color the body is, but a white body with black panel would solve my curiousity.
Let the rain begin

3rd gens look good with a CF hood, i have never seen a CF trunk for a 3rd gen. i was seeing if another group buy would happen but looks like no, i was going to just CF vinyl wrap my hood but thats kinda cheap, i might get a custom CF hood and get buttraped on cost
i still cant believe nobody has any aftermarket CF hoods for 3rd gens

lol i was gonna say having a kit and CF hood on when even 94's were only 4 years old is seriously old school
do CF hoods really look crappy after a year of use? ive been told by people its not worth paying how much for a custom CF hood because of that

The problem is, most CF companies claim their hoods have a "clearcoat". But virtually none of them do. They have just the resin coat but the companies will still claim that it has a real "clearcoat". I know Fiber Images claimed my hood had a clearcoat and it most definitely didn't.
If you get a CF hood and truly get it clearcoated as soon as you receive it, it'll probably hold up for quite a while. Then again, sun exposure might not be a problem in Canuckistan
eh its extremes here, worst of winter is -40c and summer the worst is +35-40c. its always garaged unless its good weather though
i dunno about it in winter though because all of my mods i keep yearround, its already bugging me enough that im keeping the Rays as summer only rims. then again i dont drive much in winter
my dash is in mint shape though
no sun wear, no fading, no cracks and the material is tighter than a catholic school girl

Here is a few shots of my hood with the white car. I have had it on for 4 years. These pictures are from this year.

I checked into a trunk lid a couple of years ago. It would have run me around $2200. The weight savings is minimal so not worth it

Yes James I do remember those pics. I remember you painted your dust caps black with those wheels.
To be honest, this thread wasn't intended to stir up interest for CF body panels. It was intended for seeing pics of those with blacken hoods or trunk. Blacken by paint, CF or vinyl. I'm pretty sure the CF topic has been brought up many times in my absent, and you all know how it turns out.
dead2fall, nice work on the turbo and stand alone computer, but would you happen to have full view exterior pics of your ride?

im not going to lie ... i have 16" 4th gen 5 stars up front and VE 15's in the rear ... front bumper ... CRAP!, rear bumper isnt good ... other then that ... its "ok" carbon fiber hood ... DIDNT come with a clear coat so the sun ... ATE it ... and no grille ... oh yea my head lights are zip tied in... but ill get to fixing it ... just want her running real good B4 i make her look good ... but im trying
Back on topic, that's terrible that people pay hundred$ for a carbon fiber hood and it turns to **** quicklike. It's not worth it. Candiman: If you want a contrasting hood and trunk, head to the junkard and look for a gray Max. I almost bought a hood from one for a black fixer upper I had, but I ended up finding a black one at another yard. I was ready to buy that KH1 hood though and felt pretty good about it. If it were my car i'd have no problem with a gray hood on a black Max, but since I was going to sell it, it's a good thing I found the black one..
