Found that Ve 5spd in the jy today and was debating on whether I should become a collector of 5spd vlsd trannies.

Good to see clean VE's are still available these days. I remember back in 06', there was plenty. You had the luxury of choosing color over mileage, and options over color, etc.. Now it's come to a point where you don't have much of a choice at all. Is that a 5spd btw? I payed 2200 for a super clean VE 5spd back in 06' with 137k from a private dealer.. I think this guy could do better then 2700, IMO..

Yeah I don't remember looking at that, I was mostly checking unda hood and unda carriage . The engine/engine bay was so fuuckin' clean, no corrosion anywhere, underneath looks like a 2 year old auto, no lyin'!! You never pay asking price, they overpriced purposely... I'd offer 1500 for her and work up to 1750 tops regardless of condition though.
My 89' GXE is veryclean with almost 150 on the odo and almost no corrosion but this SE/VE is Immaculate!.

You kiddin' or what? It's the whole ride or nothin' but it would be nice to find a motor like that for a spare 1, really though that shell is the tightest I've seen around here. You can still find good old whips on the Island but in NYC... forget about it!!

Heh, Im kidding and not kidding at the same time. I just want to know the location of all VE's in the area, regardless of what their body looks like, if in 5-10 years my friend's VE will need a new motor, we will know where to find it. By then this cars body might be smashed. Or my friend's VE will be smashed, in which case he will need the whole ride. Yeah, most old cars in Brooklyn are pretty crunched up. Everyone leases.

thats what i did. picked up my black VE for $300, threw in a vacuum line and it ran

I thought all you 3rdgen owners would appreciate this sweet 93' VE/SE shell, enjoy.

Yeah she's sweet... only thing is she's in the county seat, you have the Sheriffs dept., State troopers, Riverhead Village police, Southampton Police and Suffolk county Police all in that area, oh yeah plus Riverhead Jail right around the block to house you when they catch you. She's still there and probably will be for a while, most people won't pay much for a 17 year old car. We know she's worth what there asking but the average Joe doesn't so if somebody can put the dough together and go copp that.

it's an automatic. Those who really know the engine know if it doesn't have the power actuator valve which if you notice the picture where you see the abs system in it there is no power actuator valve on the plenum. Im glad i know all the differences in the auto to manual VE.

Jeff you should know this being as you have the manual VE5 engine on a stand as your avatar pic.

I never said that I couldn't tell whether or not it was an auto

You can also tell by the gauge cluster.. Autos have the OD light on the temp/gas gauge

He wouldn't do less than 2200 when i stopped trying to talk him down. It is nice, but a little too much considering the age. Plus I already have a white auto VE. (It does have original fogs on it though )

They're asking 2700 lol. I was hoping to get it for around 1500, 1750 tops. Maybe in a few more months.

Which guy did you speak with? There real fuuckin' stiff with there prices over there, that's why there lot doesn't sell much. They obviously make most of there money on the repair shop and the taxi company that they run out of that spot. Did you take it for a spin around the block? You can tell by the ride that it's tight, no noises at all and that engine bay is real fuuckin' clean!. Mechanically speaking she's worth around 2 G's but regardless I wouldn't pay there asking price.

Yea I would agree that KBB is a little high. I've been doing a lot of car shopping lately and would say that its usually about 1k high for things under 12 grand. Suggested retail is 3700 for excellent. I think those guys think its going at a bargain rate for 2700.
