vg to ve swap?

I currently have a 94 VG30E maxima, I am thinking about swapping to a VE30.

What all will I need to change? I know the transmission will bolt to it, so I wont need to change that, or the axles. But other than that, I have no idea.

theres a few threads on it, you have to redo/swap a bunch of wiring as well. a few people have done it though, you could just as well boost the VG though and have good power for generally the same amount of work

First of all, why would you want to do a VE swap and keep the crummy VG tranny?

Look up the threads by Augustus Maximus, he did a VG to VE swap

As Jeff mentioned, I would recommend changing the transmission too. Unless you rebuild it with high quality parts, the VG auto tranny is too weak, even for the VG engine itself. The tranny on mine has been rebuilt twice and when it goes out again, I'm considering doing the VE auto tranny swap.

Because the vg in the car is full of headaches, I don't want it for power I just want it reliable. I have the s13 to go fast in.

It just hit me. I don't think there's a drive plate that will bolt the VE engine to the VG auto trans. So you may have to look on that issue if you want to keep that trans.

Only works if you put the ve 5spd ttranny to the vg motor. Not the A/T.

Even if one were to get the drive plate from a 1st gen Quest? It has the same trans as the VE auto.

Your probably better off just swapping in another VG, the wiring hareness to the trans can get hairy. It'd just be easier and since your not really looking for a "little" more power then why go threw the extra headaches. Good wrenching!!

I have been looking at for a while since I'm considering the swap. I looked at pin diagrams from the FSM and it's pretty much swap the trans and TCU and you're good to go without moving around the TCU harness pins. The only thing is I hope that the VE TCU can plug in without any problems to the VG TCU harness. Think I should get a hold of one to confirm.

EDIT: Went back to my log to double check and turns out that there are three extra wires that go from the TCU to the ECU. I need to check on that.

Really. You sure they weren't 5spds. All I've ever seen and known is the RS5F50V & A (I think) to be bolted up to a VG. Never the auto. Matter of fact someone about a year ago said it couldn't be done. Search for that mod if you say its been done.
