Last April, I finally ended up selling the VE I bought from you back in the day. Had ~200k miles on it and a bunch of new parts installed by me. I hated to sell it, but some of the rust was getting too bad for me to want to mess with. I did a bunch of rust repair on it welding in new panels but it started in on the strut towers and didn't want to mess with it anymore. I sold it the day after I listed it for $1900 though

I now have another black VE 5 speed and blue VE (bought it for $200 with a blown auto tranny, converted it to 5 speed, and now it's my DD).

What have you been up to man? Good to see you pop in. I think I'm about the only OG still around that actually still has/mods a VE.

Man that's awesome that you kept it as long as you did. That car was a blast... One just came in to the shop the other day with vtc failure and it reminded me of this place.

How come nobody mods the ve anymore? Do they like being slow :-)

I'm into jeeps right now... And with a kid on the way and with it being hard to put a kids seat in the wifes jeep, I bought a turbo Volvo wagon ive been tinkering with... I've been looking for an s4 wagon though...

Jeeps:

Nice toys.

No one mods the VEs much anymore because there aren't many aftermarket parts. Once they have been passed around the members on this site for a while, they become busted or ruined.

I had a similar scenario as you, but MrGone talked me into buying a BMW e46 wagon. It's not bad. It could use more power, but it handles better than my modded Maxima.

It's kind of sad looking at this forum and seeing few people still have their cars. I am still kicking myself for selling mine. At the time, I just wasn't driving it and was hoping to get something different, but never did. I really worked hard on that car and had it exactly dialed in. I didn't need the money and

If anyone is in Oklahoma, there is a sweet Aztec Red 3rd gen with a TON of now impossible to find mods on it. The guy that bought mine had it impounded there about 5-6 years ago. He never re-licensed it and I got a notification. If it had been closer to me, I would have bought it back from the lot.

However, I still dig the Hamburger. Last spring, right before Covid hit, I bought a mint 2003 Pathfinder LE. Every single option on it. One owner, always garaged, I even got the original window sticker. The only thing wrong was the driver seat was stuck all the way back (replaced nylon tip on worm gear). I have no idea how to log on to my old photobucket account, so I don't know how to post a pic of it.

Dang man, that sucks. It probably ended up going to an impound auction and sold for beans.

I'm still driving the 2003 TE SE, The 1998 4th Gen, and doing some upgrades to the 1990 3rd Gen VG30E (Manley OS valves, JWT S1, JWT Valve Springs, ARP Head Studs)....

Yeah, I was kind of heart broken. The guy acted like he cared about the car. I told him about the .org and he just basically used it like a disposable car. Looking back, I wish I had the free time and energy to pull off all the mods. I think it would have been worth it to buy another VE5 and fix it up.

Right now, I'm trying to prevent myself from modding my Pathfinder. It's really nice, but kind of a placeholder for a while until I decide what I want. I am leaning toward the new Bronco, but I would like to actually sit in one and drive it before plunking down $40k and all of the hype just means higher prices and markups.

i have a bunch of parts in boxes..no time to put them together.

maybe we can figure out a way to shoe horn a FWD LS motor in there, add turbo and just go with that.

I wrecked the car that would have soon been mine in February of 2000, Otherwise I'd remember.

Refuse to give up on its replacement, 16 years and three totals later. The last one was my fault. Did the steering rack, clutch power steering, and timing belt while it was cut apart.

Damn that sucks. Hope someone along the way was smart enough to save it, opposed to the alternatives..

I've found my 3rd gen in Facebook market believe ot or not. I used the map search function and did 100 mile radius search. From Maine till I got to Ohio. Pmed the owner and flew from NYC to see and purchase her. Well worth it. Nostalgia feeling when you get back into one. But the mods really dried up except for brakes and springs. Also FB has 3rd gen group as well.
