In One Year

What are all the things you have done to your Maxima between last year and now and roughly how much have you spent. Even if you're only gathering parts that's still considered.

hmm...

I think I changed the oil once with Castrol syntec and a Toyota filter, washed and waxed it a few times and then broke the clutch.

Total not counting the clutch (haven't fixed it yet) was about $40 for oil, filter and car wash/wax supplies.

I also bought a set of wheels and painted them, but I bought the wheels in 2009 and didn't get around to painting them until last spring. They are still sitting in my garage collecting dust. I paid $100 for the wheels and sold the tires for $230. The paint cost $20-something, so I think I am still on the books for +$100 or so on those.

Digging on my excel file...

- Fuel meter
- AC 134a conversion
- Rear brake shoes
- Ball joints and outer tie rod ends
- 4 new tires + alignment
- 1 fuel injector
- Various small maintenance parts (oil press. switch, air filter, oil cap, head light bulb, etc)
- 2 oil changes
- And recently two power steering hoses (which I still have a leak....)

In one year I have spent about $910. And I have about $250 in parts waiting to go on my spare engine to swap.

Sometime in Feb, I dug an old battery out of the garage and started it for the first time in about 8 months. let it warm up, drove it around the neighborhood, then parked it back in the barn and haven't touched it since.

New control arm bushings, front sway bar bushings, a few oil changes, put in two subs in the trunk and 6.5" pioneers in the doors and package shelf, new head unit, blue led lights in the instument cluster, under the dash and on the roof, installed cb radio(don't judge), blacked out the tail lights and center piece, aftermarket muffler, new spark plugs and wires, clear corner lights, I got in a wreck and still tryin to get the body work finished. I think that's about it and I dont know what the price tag is on all of this

I ordered parts at 6am this morning and I'm buying a few things off the .org tomorrow. I really have no idea how much I've spent but, I'll tell you this, in one day I can finish everything that's left to be done on the car mechanically. This car is worth the effort even the under-body is rust free!

Pulled her out of the garage and BAM! Rear trailing arm snapped. Contacted Matt for a replacement. Waiting on part. Worst part was someone was looking at buying.

Oh yeah bought a replacement car. So I spent a little

Let's see:

Brake pads and rotors, KYB's at all four corners with strut mounts, front wheel bearings and hubs (including one new knuckle and caliper mount), CV axles, transmission axle seals, valve cover gaskets, timing and drive belts, ball joints, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, and now a new clutch set and rear main seal. One oil change and a whole bunch of drain/refills on the transmission. And I haven't had the car for more than two months!

Hmm I really like my car alot, so Ive spent a pretty good bit of money on her. Got a nice paint job, then replaced the tranny, New wheel bearings, new ball joints, fuel injectors spark plugs, wires, radiator, brake fluid, 3 rear brake calipers, front struts, brake pads, new tires, various cleaning supplies/waxes, fog lights, spare parts, master cylinder, heater core, window tint, black out tape, gps, installed a nice sound system, New engine mounts. I think Ive spent a little over a thousand bucks to keep her running good, and I did the majority of the work myself! Still gotta get some new rear struts, SE cluster, and some new floor mats. Still alot cheaper than buying a new car lol. Had some 17inch racing wheels on her one time, but I sold them because my suspension was really worn out, now that Ive replaced almost all suspension parts I may consider getting some nice wheels.

JSmax's friend is a Scoobie mechanic and knows Nissans as well, he did my timing belt and suspension and looked over everything as well. i grabbed most of the parts myself and he did everything, he probably charged me 1/4 what a garage would charge for what he did. he took the car for some tests as well, hes one of the few people i would trust borrowing my car. parts and everything alone from last summer were probably $2500-$3000. plus probably another $3000ish or more on other random parts to date

after that, my Rays rims were a steal for $200, and i got the Ypipe, Euro headlights, SE cluster, MES exhaust, muffler, resonator, etc. done as well. then theres the harness bar and other random stuff. i wanted to start turboing things a few months ago but some stuff has come up and my first year apprenticing is done in December so its on hold til next winter. at that time i'll buy a cheap JDM car and do the turboing

grand total for the year is probably $6000-$7000, but alot of stuff got done. i know i get sh1tstormed on how i could have bought a Skyline or such for that money and stuff but whatever its worth it to me, some people on a local forum are aholes and rag on me but most appreciate it. i get props from the admin/mods and i get compliments from alot of random people so whatever
