My car won't move... Any Idea???
I have 90 Max. I drive only about twice a week. Last few dyas my car is acting funny. In the morning, I started the car. Warm it for a while. Then I put it in Drive. As soon as I shifted to Drive, the engine died. I started the car again. It started with out any problem. Let it warm for a while. Again when I put it in Drive. The engine died.
After about 25 minute. I put it in Drive while pressing gas. Then the car moved. I drove for a while. The the car was normal.
After that day, I drove the car last night. It did the same thing. First I thought it is due to cold weather. After I bought the car, the temprature went below 30 for the first time. But I warm the car for 25 minutes. The temp. gauge also shows that the engine is warm. What it could be? cold weather? or just my car is too old?

I had the same problem on my old Eagle Summit. The head gasket and cylinder head were blown. If this is the same kind of problem, you're gonna need an engine rebuild. I'm getting a new engine for my 90 GXE because I bent all the valves trying to crank it with a busted timing belt. It's gonna be a VE! Can't wait! There's a bored Buick Regal GS in town that's gonna get a spanking soon!

Good luck trying to stuff a VE into a VG engine bay. don't forget the new tranny and wiring harness and computer while you're doing it.
As for the dying engine problem, it sounds as if it's tranny problems. possibly a failing torque convertor. this wouldn't surprise me if it's been sitting for a long time.
Could also be several things in the engine too- i.e. idle RPM control functions not working correctly. might want to take this one to a shop- they'll be able to figure out stuff much faster than we can on a computer.

I had the same exact problem. Sounds like your drop resistor is mal-functioning or disconnected. When you put it in drive see if you can take off and drive it around the block. See if the transmission shifts really hard and if the car wants to lurch when you come to a start. Mine still does this from time to time when I don't let it warm up. You also might want to check the ignition timing and idle engine speed.
