If you were getting some money soon and wanted to spend about a G on you Max, what would you get? I'm looking for ideas and just interested to see what some of you would invest in your 3G.

assuming theres not mechanical/cosmetic issues(thats stuff must come first) then I would start with a nice intake. but I mean it depends on which route you want to take first performance mods of visual mods.

I'd get coilovers. However, I don't believe that's an option with 3rd gens.
Or, I'd get a Y-pipe and cat back. Good thing about that is you can buy it one component at a time, whereas something like coilover's you have to pay for all at once.

First of all each of our cars is in different state or stage of degeneration/restoration/build so the grand could be used for cosmetic, power, repair.

If cosmetic, stillen kit (which is for sale by cardana24 for cheap). If performance, warpspeed y-pipe & greddy sp catback.
This is of course taking into account that no bodywork/mechanical work is needed. And someone mentioned low mileage engine which is dependent on your current engine's condition.

Hmm.. well let's see.. I've now got $3200 in new parts/repairs on my black VE. That excludes the $1400 I paid for it. I still now need to get tires, so add another $300-400 to that, and then get it painted which will add another $2000-3000.
So what would I invest in my 3G? Judging by the above I'd say $7-8k. But then again I'll have essentially a brand new black on black leather VE 5 speed when I'm all said and done.. so.. to each their own

Well we all know your going all out as always, I really want to see you win MOTQ when your done. Personally I don't have much cosmetic work, unless I get a stillen kit but that's for last. I have rims waiting tread already, I have B&G lowering springs w/new strut mounts and Eibach camber bolts. I replace LCA, inner/outer tie rods, LBJ's, have obx SS headers/front pipe, magna flow cat, CM resonator pipe, Megan muffler w/2.5inlet and dual outlet. I got other stuff like 255lph FP and after market fuel regulator that I saving for turbo project. So I figure i'm going to get some lift time and redo my exhaust, finish suspension and put some rubber on my new rims.

More less stock motor w/160 thou on odo, front pipe to muffler is 2.5 inch custom/after market. She runs great, interior is in excellent shape and body is good except one door has fixed dent I have to redo.

Honestly you can't get much done for a 1K man. A paint job will cost you more, rims is around that, engine is more, suspension yes, audio, yes, interio yes depending on who you go to.
Just ask yourself what you want the ride for and how long you intend to keep it and you should be able to determine where you want to invest you 1K.

I appreciate all the replies, it's really good to open up the 3rdgen forum and have all these post' to check out. I've been sitting on over a grand in parts for a while now and figure if I spend another 1,000 bones I can get my Max in a good place. Yeah I know a G isn't much these days but she doesn't need much in the repair department. She doesn't have high mileage for 3rdgen VG and the body is solid with almost no rust underneath. After I redo my exhaust and finish my suspension, that leaves the body. I figure a good ground effect kit and some paint should do the job. Only thing left to do would be taking my new rims out of the basement and putting them on my baby.
