Dang that sucks. It looks like it held up pretty well to 45mph crash. I got rear ended by a durango doing 45 a while back and the extent of the rear damage looked like that. It was when my car did a 180 into the side of a box truck did it actually get crushed. Miss my old max All the maxima's that I've seen get wrecked seem to hold up pretty well and usually no one even gets hurt.

ya it held up good , the witnesses said she never hit her brakes. it spun me about 30-40* and pushed me about 10 feet into the other lane. what sucks is i looked for awhile to find a clean 3rd gen 5 speed and they probably will only give me $1500.

i dont know if i would want it fixed,it would probably never be right. and honestly its a 21 year old car with 218k,it would be easier to find another. but if i cant i have been eyeing a few cheap 5th gen on craigslist or maybe i can get that z31 ive been wanting. what really sucks is was on my way back from a interview at at body shop.

Too bad you don't live in SW MO, I'd be willing to drive up from NW AR and buy it to do a transmission swap too.

well the insurance company finally called me and my car is in the shop getting a estimate. but i did get a rental car. i have to say, i have only driven 2 new cars in my life (this and my grandparents HHR) and they feel so soulless. i got more driving pleasure from my 87 suburban. i cant put my finger on it but it just feels so numb when i drive it.i would take my 3rd gen over this any day.

That Maxima is in a repair shop? They didn't total that?

Your car is worth maybe $2500 tops (according to book values). That looks like at least $4k worth of repairs.

yes they did total it, but they made me take it to the shop for the estimate. they said i will get a value early next week.
im going to get it back today, i think im going to keep it. i will do some shade tree body work just to get the trunk to work and keep it as a 2nd or parts car if i get another 3rd gen.it still runs too good to kill it.

Hell you could chain that ish up to a tree if need be and likely pull a lot of it out. If you rig it all yourself it may not look perfect but there's no reason at all that can't still be a perfectly usable car. I'd say unless you're a total uncoordinated doof, you could definitely make that look infinitely better. Can you weld?

It doesn't look like it affected the door or very high up the c-pillar or warp your trunk, either. In terms of rear corner smear-overs this one is really pretty tame.

I see at least 2-3 cars daily with this exact type of damage and I can tell it was repaired in somebody's yard. Most of the people buying/driving these cars can't even tell the difference but I've got a pretty sharp eye and can always spot it. If you're even remotely good with your hands there's no reason you can't clean that up quite a bit though.

So insurance is just gonna cut you a check and you'll get to buy the car back for beans? Sounds like a good deal to me especially if you're up for a little project. I would totally fix that myself if it were me and I think it'd be a fun project too

You and Chrome. You went and got a 5m not a 7? Why not an MKIII? I have always kinda liked that body style but rather the mkIII. Anyway enjoy!

I've been there three times bro. All pearl 91 5 speeds, they're my "Elenor".

First was the family car, purchased new when I was 10. My fault, almost drove it off a mountainside when I was 19, totaled and never seen again after I went and removed my stereo.

Second and third times were with my current car. Stuck with it through 7 other Maximas. I wasn't at fault in either accident. 87k on the clock when I bought it. First total came at 96k, recieved $3,300 and kept the car. Second total came a few years later with about 120k and a reconstructed title. Recieved another $2,000.

All money went to repairs of course

good choice, MKI and MKII>MKIII and MKIV

7MGTE is a easy swap anyways, all M engines can interswap trannies and 1JZ/2JZ trannies only need a bit of modding

Its also my fav. MKIV is played out to me. All I like them for is the motor and rare Getreg trans. Hell the MKIII so much cheaper than MKIVs I've been thinking of snaggin one on the side or a UCF10.
