Trying to get rid of the rasp but create a deeper tone...?

Recently purchased a 3rd gen with a 3.5 swap, car runs strong. Anyways it came with a crap exhaust and resonator the size of a pillow. I put a straight pipe and also an APEXi WS2 exhaust I got for cheap. The car has headers(couldnt tell you what kind) and factory flex pipe. The sound that was created as really raspy and I want more of a deeper tone. What do you guys suggest???

You might be better off asking this among 5.5 gen owners because the engine is different and the exhaust note is different.

I would say you probably need a good resonator.

I have a greddy cat back and it had an outstanding sound with no rasp to it. However, the original resonator got a hole in it, so I took it to a shop and they installed a new one. It's not quite as good, but the resonator eliminates the raspy sound and the greddy muffler still keeps it deep and subtle.

Get a 20" resonator. that should solve your issue.
