Replacement ve30de?

Any reliable places to find a decent shape ve30de?

Found front and rear main seal leaks yesterday and I don't have the time to rebuild myself would be much faster swapping it. Is there an alternative? Possible to drop in the newer 3.5L?

3.5 swap is alot of work and only a few people have done it. if youre already going to take the engine out to replace it might as well just keep your current engine and take the engine and trans out and replace the seals and change a bunch of stuff like the water pump at the same time

no, the ve30de ONLY came in three years for the maxima. No other vehicle has the ve motor, from the factory.

wat?

if you mean the engine was found in I30, it was not. VE30DE were only in 92-94 SE Maxima, no other vehicle ever. VE's are a relative to VG30DE but thats about it

Normally, you could drop in a JDM VE for $500-600, but unfortunately it's virtually impossible to find any JDM engines now since just about the entire stock of JDM engines was wiped out with the tsunami. It's even hard to get the JDM Honda engines that used to be so plentiful

Anyway, the crank seal isn't hard or expensive or time consuming AT ALL to replace. The rear main seal also isn't hard or expensive to replace. It's somewhat time consuming because you have to remove the transmission and flywheel.

In the time you spent to swap in a new/different engine you could very easily just replace the seals.

I got my engine (2 years ago) from JDM Engine depot in NJ, they actually had 2 in the warehouse when i went to get mine. theres also JDM engine zone, another importer nearby, i just checked both of their sites and neither have a VE available

The place where mine came from (several years ago) has one in stock. It is in the Seattle area.

I agree with James, though. It would be easier to just fix the stuff you have wrong. Doing a swap is a lot of work and you might as well do a lot of other things during the swap while the JDM engine is accessible and the engine is out of the car. Water pump, manifold studs, seals, etc.

I agree also. For all that you gotta do to replace those seals you gotta do that & more when swapping out a motor. You gonna spend more money, headache and time that is unnecessary? Theres no need. Work smart not hard.
