I need help (shes on her last legs)

I'm having an odd problem with my speedometer. When idle or off the needle sits at 125mph but as soon as I hit ~40mph it jumps up to 85 and stays there till i decelerate. Sometimes it will work properly but its slow to respond in changes in speed and will reset to 125 as soon a I put it in park. Another issue I'm having is the shifter (auto) wont unlock sometimes. I get around it by using the release but its annoying. And lastly I have been struggling to find a good tutorial on how to get to and fix the rear exhaust manifold, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. Thanks in advance for the help and sorry if any of this info is already posted, I used the search function but couldn't find anything that helped me.

Your shifter issue definitely sounds like your transmission shifter bushing wore out, it happens to all 3rd gens. This is a pic of the bushing/insulator I bought at my local dealer for less than $5 and if memory serves me correct you might need 2 of them. Theres one on the front of shifter linkage rod and one on the other end of the rod. You're going to have remove your catalytic converter heat shield to get access to the bushing, the entire job takes about 20min.

Thats something too simple for u to put the car out to pasture. Ask Chrome. He had a lot of issues and kept chugging along until the motor and trans plotted together to leave him hanging. Even then he could've solved this but he & his funds decided he was done.
