1991 Maxima. Cold air intake questions!
I'm trying to put a cold air intake on my 91 but there aren't any places or websites I can find that sells them. I now want to just buy an intake and a intake adapter for it and just take off the old one and slap that on. Has anyone done this that might have some insight?

You can buy a CAI kit for early 90's Accords on Ebay for around $30. It works well on the VG engine.
Here is a link:

The S pipe will take the place of your current pipe coming out of the throttle body collector and going to the MAF.
The straight pipe with a bend on one end will go from the MAF to behind the drivers side headlight alongside the battery.
Lastly you'll need to buy a separate (Ebay or locally) 90 degree tube, I'll explain where this goes below.
You'll see if you look behind/below the headlight there is a passage way down into the fender/bumper area. You'll have to use some metal scissors to trim enough sheet metal away for the 90 degree bend to go down into the fender.
Of course you'll have some minor fitment issues like the fuse box along the DR fender as well as trimming the pipes that come in the kit to shorten them a bit.
Aside from that, keep in mind you'll need an extra rubber cuplink for the 90 degree bend as well as an MAF adapter.
Otherwise, you have the option to buy an MAF adapter and to put the filter right off of the MAF (Short ram intake), but you can expect a negligible loss in power and a cool VROOM VROOM sound.

So that how it looks right now. And the way you described to me will work on there? And will there be any gain? Will it still make a nice sound?

If it's still in the engine bay then technically it's not a CAI. Cold air intake means exactly that. It's bringing colder air from outside the engine bay. The most common way to acheive this is to Cut a hole into the fenderwell and run the intake tube and filter from behind the bumper.

Usually, factory intakes take into consideration insulating engine noise. So you would see restrictions and resonators here and there throughout the intake. Using aftermarket intake kits would remove those features to improve airflow, but wil also come with a louder engine bay.

From a free piece sheetmetal...utilizing that awesome plastic intake tube that's been internally reworked....that offers less resistance than that other long a$$ CAI, which also has a metal tube intake placed in front of a hot a$$ radiator.....OEM is short So I stayed with the short air intake.....Think about it.....How far is the intake bellmouth from the MAF?

Not really I never drove the car hard when I first got it cause it had bad engine mounts, exhaust leaks, oil leaks and I drove it home and pulled the engine sent it to a machine shop for a rebuild, and modded the hell out of it....I can tell you this.... If I drove it during hot summer days pulled over and touched my ignition box, it was cool as hell and everything on the other side of the sheild was hot as a ****.....It has a JWT ecu and I run my timing at about 20 degree B4 TDC and never heard it ping not one time....throttle is super responsive and it's fun as hell to drive....

I sent in a similar junkyard ECU (same yr and transmission) as mine and set it to JWT to be reflashed. You have no idea what 20 degrees BTDC is? Apparently you're new at automotive maintenance.....How long have you been working on cars?

Not long at all, I've only done a few electrical repairs to my car and changed out alternators, starters, you know, the simple stuff. I'm starting to dabble into engine maintenance but want to find something I can learn off and understand what I'm looking at and how it works, I don't want some quick step by step instruction because then I won't learn anything other than how to replace exact parts
