Jerky acceleration -- transmission?

A few weeks ago, I started and warmed up the car, as usual. (great story, eh?)

However, as I accelerated out of my driveway, the car started jerking back and forth, and I glanced at my RPM and noticed that was going up and down as well. This has never happened before, and only happened that one day out of the year and a half I've owned the car.

It was wet that day, could some belt have been slipping or something? Also, it only did it from going from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to third gear.. then it drove fine. After driving for about 15 minutes, I hit a red light, and when I accelerated then everything was normal.

My guess is something was wet. The transmission is only 9 months old, because the original broke suddenly ($3000 to get a new one), and I never had any problems with the transmission at all since it was replaced.

Any ideas? Do I need to replace a belt or something? Thanks

-Sam

The tranny could be it but I doubt it most driveability
problems are engine related. You mentioned it only happened when
cold, you might check some engine connectors (i.e. the maf sensor
tps sensor fuel injectors etc) for loose or corroded connections
as improper voltage from these sensors will cause problems. Did
you notice any idle fluctuations durring warmup (idle "jumping
around" or too high or too low an idle speed). Is the tranny a
reman? If it is it should still have a warranty you might see if
the shop that did the work will check the tranny over to eliminate
it as a cause. Just some of my ideas.

Everything looks fine, I dont know about the voltages or anything, but nothing is corroded at all. There was very little engine knocking at all. I live off a dirt road, so I was really only 1st and 2nd gear for a mile and a half or so, then I started to accelerate. By this time the engine was pretty much warmed up.

It did this "jerking" the first time I accelerated, and then once more shortly after, then the next time I accelerated it was fine. I guess I will have the tranny checked out.

Mine does the same thing when it is cold. I'll be accelerating and around 1,500 RPM the gauge just starts going up and down a little missing. Once it is warm it runs great though.

Thats weird...but I dont think there are any belts that would do that.

Try running the Transmission Self Diagnostic in the car... it might

just be that one of your 10 transmission sensors is going bad
