go with the ECU......on the VG it only possible to make remotely close gains if you have it professionally tuned(will require some $$) and include an ignition upgrade and advance the timing(17 degrees proved best on "Max O/Ds" VG), but even with all that the gains are still about 3-4hp shy of the JWT! so unless you like to fiddle around with stuff take the straight path and get the ECU, it costs less too!

and yes a "tuned" ECU isn't for nitrous because it advances timing....but JWT makes a nitrous add-on($450) for their ECU unit that retards the timing accordingly when nitrous is in use and re-advances when nitrous is off!

cool, cool! I'm going the other route though...the guys I talk to at Altered Atmosphere(shop around my way) have some tricks up their sleeve when it comes to tuning the AFC! I'm just gonna need some money for the dyno time....hope to go forth with this, this coming summer!

APEXi all the way

the APEXi can be had for half the price and is adjustable!!Your call but I would not even consider the tuned ECU.

good luck

have you used the AFC before?? alone it will not EVEN come close to the JWT ECU on an N/A car without ignition tuning as well!!!!! the ECU tunes the ignition surve as well which the AFC DOES NOT!

well how about a AFC in conjunction with the APEX'i ITC (Iignition timing controller) which would be about the same price as the ECU,and far better tuning capabilities,am i right?

ITC will not work on our cars, it was tried on Max O/D's VG....no go!!!! would be an awesome combo though!!

Call JWT(619-442-0680) and ask them about tuning their ECU better with an AFC. Bwahahahahaha..

Stock ECU's work just fine with nitrous.

I'm the proof of that (just look below ... no handbrake!) and have been for the past 3 years, albeit a dry shot. I recommend a wet shot plumbed directly into your intake plenum's runners.

yup the idea of being able to tailor your own igniton curve based on RPM is kinda cool....could have been possible to match or at least come close to what Jim Wolf has done, but thats a REAL longshot!!! but I always keep my eyes open for new gadgets though...
