Blew up my VG finally

So was on way to local 1/8 mile track to run. On highway buddy in his cummins tried to mess with me. Down shifted to second. Instant spin and pulled away then cose to redline felt bad hesitation let off but was to late motor was done. Limped it home 3 miles. Tore down today this what I found. Luckily my heads are still good. Only #4 piston is toast. Block could be save if bored it. So going look into injector see if that was the culprit. Tune was spot on and has been running this much boost for 2k miles and took a serious beating for stock motor. Undecided what I want to put back in it. Only took hour to pull heads

This is everything had to remove for heads. Very little vs a stock motor.

Bore. Dished pistons. New turbo ring set. Done.

What was duty cycle on your injectors?

They worked before. I can't see them today though. It was kinda ugly, maybe it's better no one else becomes traumatized?

Strange still have them hosted. Try fix them when I get home. Plan is rebuild another motor I have on stand will keep stock internals. But I will be upgrading fuel rails and injectors with e85. I'll have to look at my logs but 90% sure I maxed my injectors out. They were only 450cc

No 90% sure there maxed. I'm going guess duty cycle was over 100%. My 370cc were 116% duty cycle why I had a fmu on top.

Fixed the pictures. Also went through my datalogs only had one log from other day. Was on 12 ish psi and my duty cycle was 79% so definitely what my issue was. Got in a rush that day and should of paid closer attention. Can't believe I maxed out these 450cc aready. Guess build it more this time.

Wow. So what exactly happened? That injector failed and went insta-lean in that cylinder?

I'm guessing maxed out injectors/stock rail and couldn't keep up. 450cc only good for around 400hp which was my goal. Think I'm way beyond. Found out on 25psi duty cycle was 130-140%

I'm a little confused about how exceeding the duty cycle of the injectors can cause that. Does it just flood the cylinder to the extreme and lock up?

Opposite of flooding. Running high duty cycle can cause them get hot and burn up. Most likely this what happened or was weak to begin with. That's the risk of running old used injectors. So this cylinder leaned out and caused detonation. Which got hot and melted the piston.

I don't want to compare to NA, but why doesn't the same thing happen with sputtering or failed injectors? Or maybe it could if you run the engine hard enough..

Usually when side feeds go out not working and not getting any fuel. Something Luke this was getting not near enough plus all the boost make it get very hot .

Got the rest of everything pulled last night. Was very upset when I pulled the clutch off the flywheel. This was a Southbend stage 5 rated at 575 ft lbs torque. Cost me around $600 with the extra for cyro treatment. This is shot also now need new disc for my fidanza flywheel. Also this clutch was only in for around 2k miles. Still has tons of meat left on it just chunks coming off. I never had it slip once.

Contacted southbend clutch. Will be getting my clutch rebuilt between $225-275. Was going possibly tear down motor Im building this weekend and getting prep work done and get block to machine shop. Should be pretty cheap to do full rebuild. Plan on having back together under 1k which is not bad. Going OEM rings, clevite bearings, OEM 9:1 pistons, OEM headgaskets and bolts. Basically Another stock bottom end. Soon as find some 850cc will order material to make some custom -6 aluminum fuel rails.
