Wierd smell any ideas

OK so sunday night I was drving and all the sudden the air comming out of the vents ( I had the heat on) started smelling like ****. It really wreaked of urine and amonia, Im positive it wasnt antifreeze cuz that what everyones been telling me but I know how that smells and my fluid level is good. I got rid of the smell (because it sat in my car with the windows closed all sun. night until this morning) by soaking the car with fabreeze and lighting some candle my mom has and I let the car air out all day. This night I kinda started smelling it though.
any Ideas?

It started when I was driving so I know its nothing In the car rotting or something, and I smelled under the car and couldnt smell the smell.

I dont know if this may help but my neighbor had someone pour urine down his air vents....it smelled like what your talking about. We put a chemical in it called "stain and odor blocker" it worked , but took forever to let it sit in . I dont know if you can pour liquid in our air vents....if so i can send you some. Let me know, Charles

That's the first thing I thought!

The air intake for the HVAC is located at the base of the windshield through the black grate I beleive, so I can easily see some "comedic genius" thinking it'd be f***ing hilarious to throw some junk there. Try a visual check of this area. You could remove it, but you have to take the wiper arms off first.

Your lucky. About a year ago (when my mom had the max) we smelled gasoline very strongly. Both when driving and when parked. Inside the car and out. Brought it into a mechanic TWICE and found nothing wrong. 2 months later the hood faded and lost it's shine. Now there is no clearcoat and the hood has a bunch of chalky-greyish stains from waterspots, dew, and such. I still don't know what caused it, but I guess it was gasoline. Now my car looks like ****.

My brothers cat has a habit of peeing on car windows parked in his driveway. The urine runs down into air intake for the AC system. Now I'm not sying it was his cat.

someone who likes to play REALLY dirty jokes!

also, the max has a tendency to get gunk/mold/etc buildup in the same vent. one of the remedies it to pour a 1/2 bleach, 1/2 water mix into the vent and let it sit for a while (5-10 minutes) and kill the stuff. then flush it really well with water (just turn the water hose on a medium flow, and let it run into the vent for 10 minutes or so.)

be sure not to get any bleach on the paint. I don't know what it will do, but I'm sure it won't make the shine any better!

I dont think

anyone poured anything in there because I think it would have started right away, but ill try what Matt said, Bleach wont hurt the finish though especially if its diluted. Now Ill have to find where you guys are talking about.

look right under the windshield wipers.. you'll see some "grates".. that's the inlet for the A/C system. pour it in there.
