story of my maxima and me(long story)

First and foremost. hello all,

hows the day going its muggy here in Portland or, but none the less a good day..
so I recently bought a 91 white maxima SE V6 3000 series twin cam. with all original Calsonic parts needles to say I F***ing Love this car! even though:
I bought it off of craigslist for 900$ (not knowing anything about cars other than I wanted a 5speed ,and the engine was a f***n V6 wich beats the hell out of my old 2000 chevy cavalier) so the guy told me there is possibly a muffler leak.. ok that's fine not too spendy.. well after waiting a week for my sr-22 to be deliverd from esurance I got to drive this beast the night I got my licence reinstated only to have my clutch pedal stick to the f***n floor on they way home from my maiden trip. the next day I take it in to a shop 30 miles away. (lol fun ride .. had to reach down and full it up if I couldn't get with my toe adding fluid every 4-6 miles) 70$ for a new clutch slave cylinder.. sigh ok fine.. now on day 1.5 .. being in experienced when it comes to symptoms of issues.. I didn't relize the cluch was going out.. well after getting a friend cuz we are going out that night(me my gf and her two friends) my clutch decided it didn't want to clutch the flywheel any more.. take it back to the shot he tells me 700$ holy **** grandma helped me and payed.. the shop had my car for 2.5 almost 3 weeks finally I called em and told them im taking my car to another shop. 2 days later 650$ instead of 700$ in and im driving once again.. things are good other than no stereo ( all amps for bose are blown) and the occasional strong smell of fumes from the exhaust manifold leak one day after helping my grandma in her garden she called me up and said " your car sounds like **** you should see what it will cost to fix your manifold and let me know" so I did. I set up the day with the shop that did my clutch, the day before I take it in im racing a sube down mgloughlin im winning off the line and at the light first for 4 lights before my turn, but! right before we get to would be 5th light my car kinda jerks and loses power for a second unless I kept it at 2100 rpms( F**K what did I dooo!) well I didn't think about it atleast I tried not to.. continued onto my friends house and did my OMMP thing and left.. and remembered the problem as my car wouldn't start and when I tried a small white puff would come from under the hood .. so I opened it to see nothing visibly wrong so I try again.. success but.. still having the jerking issue well I get almost back home witch is only 2-4 miles, and taking the corner for home stretch the ****er dies. im sittin there dog in car hot *** Oregon day (funny huh) freakin the F**k out. I open the engine to again look and see wtf it could be.. I look from driver side front side and passenger side.. and just when I was about to give up.. I saw it this small red-headed cord just dangling next to the ac compressor( witch at the time I thought was my alternator witch is actualy right underneath) WHAT THE F**K??? how any ways I plugged it in and boom it starts right up..yay. well gatta pick the gf up that same night and on the way home from her work my dash goes dim and kinda freeks out and my headlights turn off.?OMG!? lol well I pull off into a driveway to a duplex and there is a f***n AAA batterie service truck dude ended up getting a call and went to go but saw me there hood open and asked whats up... he later determined my alternator wasent charging the batterie so had it towed to the shop where it was to be worked on the next day.. the next day I ended up replacing the alternator and batterie cuz the alternator destroyed it, another 325$ and all that in a month after the clutch fix... sigh but I love this thing and come Tuesday I think I will have the manifolds fixed.. today im changing the oil, flushing coolant, and painting the dash inserts.

if you got to this part thanks for the read. hope you enjoyed it as much as me and my bad spelling/grammer had writing it..
any questions or comments are greatly appreciated. take it easy people
ps. 3rd gen is the ****!

91? Twin cam?

Welcome. There are a few of us around from Oregon. A bigger group up north in the Seattle area. I saw mention of a meet next month in Olympia. Check the local forum.

Oh, and good luck with those exhaust manifolds. Hopefully its not broken studs.

And yeah as already stated that's definitely not a twin cam.

its not twin cam, 160hp and 183ftlb of torque are VG30E specs, but twin cam VE30DE werent until 92 SE. VG30DE in Z32 etc were twin cam, VG30E are single

damnit.... looks like a engine swap is in my future(dreams)
still im proud of what I got and now when I tell people I can say the right things.. so thank you guys.
I have put an eclipse and a few different subys to shame and various other cars. for having ****ed up manifolds(broken bolts, and a missing bolt and bent pipe) and desperate need of a tune up this car scoots.

Well there are two cams on the VG, count 'em Anyway to the OP ease up on the racing, you need to give your car some TLC first. You need to get interested in maintenance and realize that acceleration is just one aspect of vehicle performance. Take care of your Maxima and she will take car of you!

I could hardly read that.

Try writing in paragraphs and putting a space between each one. It is a lot easier to understand and we can "break down" each part of your story.

The loud exhaust might be your flex pipe, even though it sounds like you have broken manifold studs, as well. When the studs break, it usually just has a ticking sound, especially when cold. The flex pipe or exhaust gaskets/o-rings go bad and it can be really loud.

Mine is the flex pipe. Its basically like running straight pipes right now because I have NO exhaust coming out the muffler. I'm certain the flex pipe is blown all to pieces because I can hear it rattling around in there when the car is idling up on the lift at work. Its loud as hell and, at least from inside the car, sounds badass as hell. Sounds like **** outside of the car but screw it.

Gonna see about having a new flex pipe welded in for cheap and be done with it until next year, get it to pass emissions then its game on for cat-less and new exhaust because Washington emissions testing ends at 25 years old.

Heck yeah!

Don't be cheap, just put out the money for a y-pipe. It's one of the few bolt on mods you can actually feel make a difference. It's easy to do (especially if you have a lift) and adds hp and better mpg.

Y pipe isn't in the cards these days. Getting ready to move and it's gonna be an expensive one at that. I just need it to pass emissions, no more no less. For 50 bucks boom new flex pipe installed vs 250 for the federal warp speed pipe. One it gets its last emissions test I'm running all new exhaust piping and ditching the cat anyways, I'll do the Y pipe then.

I forget about emissions sometimes. I am out here east of the mountains and I just send a check and the state mails me the tags.

How far are you moving? Vancouver isn't very big. I might even move there next year if I can sell my house. I am sick of paying so much in state income tax here in Oregon.

Not sure yet, actually, but I'm gonna be moving the rest of my stuff, my girlfriend and my cats out from Wyoming finally so it's, gonna be a big to do getting out ask figured out. I'll probably be sticking around in the couve even though for my hobbies of riding motorcycles, Oregon is more convenient. Buddies mostly live down that way, it seems. But income tax is no fun so I'm inclined to stay m north of the river.
