THird Gen Maxima audio and Gauge cluster light questions

Hello everyone!
I had a question regarding my bose speakers in my '93 SE .

Now i know the speakers are 4 inches, however does anyone know the original Wattage? Edmunds and kbb dont really help with that detail lol

Also, Could i put a sub in between my two rear bose speakers?

Moreover, don't you guys love these speakers, 20 years later, and they're still bumping like crazy! Excellent speakers!

I will post a question regarding the gauge cluster soon...

He's talking about his door speakers. You must have missed the other thread.

You didn't finish your post, but I take it that you want different color output on each gauge? There's a problem which a cluster uses 4 or 5 bulbs (depends on year) and they're not positioned as you would expect to make full use of those bulbs. I will post a pic about it.

Also, I'd return the blue and red bulbs. I got the blue ones before and ended up taking them out because the color output didn't come out as I expected. I suggest getting LEDs as they will give you a MUCH better color output.

I have to agree with your opinion on those colored bulbs... i tried the blue ones for the city lights on my '99 Prelude with poor results.

Yes i was intending three different colors, for the three different gauges.

But, for the LEDS, what specefic LED bulbs work?

Obviously, i have to take out the steering column, to access the gauge cluster.

I hope my haynes manual helps with that haha.

What color do you guys think would be the clearest?

Thank you, but where can I get info on what specific leds will fit in your link. Should I look at cars electrical diagrams?

The cluster uses type 194 bulbs. The leds in that link are built to plug into a 194 lamp socket. If you look along the left edge of the page, you will see a listing of the different bulb types for your car.

Better late than never, but here's the pic of the front and back of the cluster. I pointed to the illumination lights for the cluster and you can see having individually colored gauges would be a problem. Also there's no separation between each gauge. Something for you to consider if you want to go with your plan.

Put a 1kHz test tone on your iPod and play the iPod into the radio at full volume. Go in the trunk with a AC voltmeter and measure the voltage between the speaker terminals with the test tone blaring (wear earplugs). Whatever this reading is, multiply it by itself then divide the result by eight. That is the RMS wattage going into the speaker.

Yes. You will need a crossover and an additional amp for the sub.

Yes, they sound great right up until the amps start to malfunction and emit high pitch squeeling noises. Then the **** on the radio breaks, and then it doesn't sound so good anymore.

Well it's basically what color you like with those led it will be a bright contrast but all the bulbs has to be the came color.and as far me posting a video I will during this week for sure... Because google don't have any info on the 3rd gen cluster removal... I really don't have a Haynes manual so a video would be nice to do...

This step by step tutorial was put together over 10 years ago courtesy of Craig Brace, it shows you what needs to be removed in order to gain access to the speedometer gauge cluster.
