What the hell went wrong with my car
i just got my y-pipe installed and was very excited to try it out. after about 10-15 minutes of driving, all of a sudden my e-brake light comes on bright and the battery light comes on at about half of that brightness. now my car idles and about 600RPM and drops very low everytime i come to a stop before it goes to 600. it died on me a couple of times before i turned the stereo off. i have 2 amps and a dvd player running in my car. i made it home ok and that is where my car is staying.
Im pretty sure this is my alternator. please let me know if this has happened to anybody and if this would most likely be my problem. thanks.

Re: What the hell went wrong with my car
if your car can continually start (ie, have enough cranking amps in the system before the car is on) then it's not likely your alternator.
however if you can't restart the car, and peripheral electronics don't work, it might be your battery.
if you want a cheap (relatively) answer have a mechanic (or DIY) take a reading on the electrical system of volts. if your volts hold, it's elsewhere

I've been waiting for my alternater to die for almost a year now. The battery light is dim at low rpms and almost off at higher rpms. I've studied the wiring diagram and it looks like something going on inside the alternator...but my car always starts with no probs and all the electronics components work fine.
Glad to hear its an easy job to replace it.
