Bose question - will a double DIN Bose unit from a 94 SE fit as a replacement for ->

I have both the CD player and the Bose single DIN unit as separate stock units in my 92 SE. The CD player has failed and I was wondering if a Double DIN Bose head unit from a '94 would wire into my current system?

If not, what are some of my options? Can I replace the CD player with another? Is there a place that fixes them? All it does is click when turned on.

Thanks for any input.

The '93 FSM shows only one wiring schematic for Bose, so it should work. Your harness should have 2 connectors for the stereo (10 pin and 6 pin).

Thanks for checking, but the double DIN unit I mention is from a 94 SE. Perhaps the wiring scheme changed when the double DIN units came out for the 94's.

Or were the double DIN units out in 93?

I'll be sticking with the Bose. Unlike many, I'm very happy with the system. I've had people show me their new head units and none of them compare with the Bose, sound wise. However, I'm sure many of you have systems that would totally surpass the Bose system.

Anyway, the 92 SE has been around since this summer. It's grey with black leather interior. It's a nice looking car, completely stock. My girlfriend is the owner, but I do a decent amount of driving in it and all maintenance. Would you believe she doesn't like the leather? Pics will come soon. I just snapped a few this past weekend. It's been a good car, but looses a little power after warming up. Other list members seem to think it's a coil(s) problem. I checked cylinders 1 & 6 and the coils from them looked visibly perfect. I'm going to pull the rest and inspect when I have time.

Yea i hear ya I do like Bose myself, but not the 10 year old one in my car The ones in the new Max's are incredible as well as their home audio. So Im putting in an entire new system, all Pioneer (new head unit, front component speakers, rear 6x9 speakers). But just like with everything, theres always something better out there. The 92 sounds nice but i never heard of any coil problems like that...any VTC trouble with that car? Black leather- Its especially nice considering the cloth seats in the 3rd gens are very rough.

Getting back to your original question I think i remember someone saying that the Bose head units changed around 91-92. Maybe you can get a double din from 91? Im not too up on it; all this BS about the different Bose systems is partly what made me decide to go to an aftermarket system.

Good luck with your new setup. The Bose unit changed slightly in 1991. In the later years they came out with the double DIN units.

As for the '92, it had the VTC noise upon test driving it, but I quickly performed the rewire and that was the last of that BS. It clatters for like one or two seconds on startup and that's it.
