Hi everyone I need a good advice that I am thinking about buying a 92 SE manual and the problem is the engine doesn't run the seller doesn't know what wrong with the car since he already took the valve cover off and the right bank timing chain off I thought **** since now I can't check the compression. The seller is selling it for 500 buys I am eager to buy it off the spot but any advice what should I look for and would it be worth fixing let say I just buy a JDM engine and drop it in? I intend to restore the car the body is great shape said from a few paint chip but the interior is very clean

Assuming the engine is already FUBAR there really isn't anything you should "look for" specifically as you would with a running engine. Assuming everything else on the car works and is in good shape then I'd say you've got a good plan there with dropping in a JDM engine.

Although considering the thing doesn't even run, I'd try to get it lower than $500. I bought my blue VE non-running about 10 years ago now and I got it for only $200 way back then. Dropped in a JDM engine and converted it to manual and the rest is history as they say

look at the car...has it been there for a while. a good layer of dirt on it? if so then i would even say $150 for the car. IMO he should be paying you to get rid of a 20+ yr old non running car from his property..LOL
