1993 NISSAN MAXIMA SE. will run good and then when stopping will stall out, hard to restart( gas peddle to floor) usually starts up, now may stall again and again, or may just run great. took it to shop, they said 2 dead cylinders, 245.00 and you need a new motor?? let is sit, was mad, went out started it up and it drove fine, plenty of acceleration everything? did not drive it far, as i took plates off of it. please any help would be great. i am not a mechanic. thank you all.

 

Check the coolant temperature sensor. Knock sensor, and injector harnesses.

 

sounds like a bad maf (mas air flow sensor) or fuel pump .. their are few things to check to make sure .. make sure you have spark next time it dies. no spark can be one of 3 .bad coil ,bad ignition module , or bad dizzy. if you have spark while it's dead spray carb/brake/starter fluid in to the inside of the air filter or threw a vacuum hose . if the car starts right up with the spray then you have a fuel delivery issue. in that case you check to make sure you have power at the pump while cranking. if you have power and good ground while cranking then bad pump. no power check fuses then relay then make sure the relay has power (the relay if I'm not mistaken is triggered by a negative signal from the ecu (ground). a simple "ghetto" rig to get around the ecu turning on the pump is to run ignition power straight to the pump with a fuse. so it will be on when you turn the ignition on ..
