Does anyone know the size of the speakers in the front two doors? I'm going to be buying a new set and crutchfield isn't too reliable with the sizing.

The stock Bose ones are 4", but i think you can fit up to a 6.5" in there.

the correct size for the non-Bose system is 4X6. i was able to fit 5x7 in mine without too much work. i just did this because i had some nice 5x7's laying around. if you are going with just regular speakers i would just stay with 4x6's. the slight increase in woofer size doesnt make that big of a difference if you buy quality speakers. now, if you want a great system with all component speakers there is going to be much more work involved. take a look at Matts 93 gxe pictures. he has built custom pods for the 6.5" speakers in the door. then there is the problem of finding someplace to put the tweeters where the sound is going to be directed correctly. in my system i have the 5x7 polk coaxial's up front and some pioneer 6.5" 4ways in the rear. also i have 2 10" mtx subs. i am fairly pleased with the results. i cant imagine it sounding much better with the component speakers, but thats just my opinion from others systems i have heard.

I've got PowerAcustik 5 1/4" in the Front doors with no prob. Also I have 3/4" supertweeters that were custom built into the top part of the doors (above the door handles)

just wondering, how did you go about making a something to mount the speakers on inside the door panel. i just used the one that was in there, but i couldnt get the speakers to angle the exact way i wanted the to. ive seen people make like little boxes to hold them in and mount them inside the door with using wood. is that a good idea, or is it ghetto?

Anyone have an answer on this angling situation. Is angling the midbass important, or just make it better. IOW is it worth it?

I had the factory Bose 4" speakers, and the plastic housing they were mounted to seemed like it was acoustically angled to provide the awesome imaging they did.

I threw away those black Bose plastic pods and fabricated complete new ones from MDF. Basically I created a pretty good exact replica of the Bose pods without the enhancing port chamber.

All it took was my table saw set at an angle to cut wedges which were then shaped and contoured using fiberglass resin.

All I can say is that it sounds AMAZIN!
