Thanks for the suggestions on swapping tranny. Since auto. tranny was damaged in an accident, the insurance took care of it, but I had to pay a betterment of 35% on a new tranny and radiator from the dealer. $2750 tranny, $500 radiator. $700 labor. The tranny fluid stinks like organic solvent. Is this normal ? New sealant smell? There's also a new low volume, high pitch noise when idling.

Before the tranny was done, the dealer dropped something down the cylinder. They dropped it down the spark plug hole. He said they couldn't blow it out, so had to remove the head and replace all the gaskets, etc. Said it looked like a piece from the plug wire and only scratched the carbon deposits. The dealer returned the car with it knocking. Brought it back twice twice for the knocking and once for the missing hose clamp, On the second trip told them to fix the timing and that solved the knocking. My friend says watch out for a scratched cylinder, oil leak and plug fouling. Story sounds fishy. Any secret recalls? Get rid of the car?

On the road again, but for how long

Take it back to that dealer, you give them all this business and your car doesn't run right? That's why I try and do everything that I can on my own.

Yeah I agree. If its your money that gives you some pull on them.
