91 SE Manual - Whenever it is cold (below 50 F) my ABS light comes on (computer indicates driver side front actuater - 6 flashes). When the light is not on the brakes make a clunky sound. Estimate from the dealer is $800.00. My inclination is to disconnect the ABS or attempt
repairing or replacing actuator. I have searched the forums- nothing similar. Anyone ever tried replacing actuators?

 

No one knows about ABS...tut, tut.

 

Make sure its not a ABS wheel sensor like mine only cost about $120

Seriously though, if you are not at least a decent mechanic, just give it to a shop. Or at the very least buy a Nissan shop manual. You will need it if you try this anyay

i needed a new pump...costed $500 installed aftermarket one...after that they were fine for a few weeks and ABS light would come on and car would brake fine,when the light was off,it would make like a clunky "boing" noise and id feel it in the peddle when i came to a stop..i didnt wanna deal with that car anymore so i traded it in,never fixed that problem but i think its the same
