'91 Maxima GXE vs. '94 Accord ???

'91 Maxima
- automatic
- stock vg with approx. 200,000km (about 124,000 miles)and still running good
- no performance mods just some minor appearance stuff

'94 Accord (4 door)
- 5-speed
- 4 banger motor that came in an accord in '94 with approx. same milage as my max and running like **** (drove in it after)
- only performance mods were minor but maybe some slight factor . . . a intake with the cone sitting in the engine bay (comparable to our POP chargers i guess) and some generic performance muffler with a tip
- of course lots ofhonda rice apperance mods that i don't need to list

Okay I met up with some friends and my friend with the accord kept on nagging about my "family car" maxima and what a POS it is, but anyways he even went on to challenge me in a race . . . soo i said why not, seemed fair (i thought i would beat him but i didn't brag or say anything) and i barly ever race at all because come on i only have a auto VG here, nothing special, i just use her to get from point A to B (well i have picked on a couple of crappy civics and won )
well in the end he actually beat me i was soo suprised that his lil riced honda 4 banger beat me !!!! all i did was when the light turned green just floored her and went and he just slowly kept pulling on me up to about 130km/h(about80mph ?)when we both stopped (oohhhh i took O/D off and put the tranny in "power" lol if it mattered) in the end he probably beat me by approx. 2 car lengths
. . . . ohhh had about a 1/4 tank of gass and did not have anything in the car . . no subs nothing, and he was the same too w/ about a 1/2 tank of gas.....
I never knew those things were fast ! well fast enough to beat me
like did i do anything wrong ? does anything seem fishy? or is everything completely normal and i should not worry about it and not race him again if he asks . . . which he will because he thinks hes soooo bad now . . a couple of friends even put money on it that i would win too !! ohhh well good thing i didn't

sorry about the long post i just wanted to try and put it into detail as much as i could to give you guys a good idea of what happened, if i missed anything just ask away !

thanks for any input because i am stumped !

damn...where are the cliff notes???

it'll be an good race, personally I think a good runnig Accord 5spd will give you a good challenge if driven right to a VG auto. I always have me best races with Accords, good comp for the VG auto!

I raced a '90 Accord 2dr manual w/ '94 Accord engine, headers, full exhaust, and intake. It was kind of pathetic, considering the fact that he had almost all the bolt ons yet I have an auto 4dr and my exhaust is messed up plus I need a whole tuneup! He was quite mad, yet surprised when I mentioned the above to him. He thought I had a 4cyl manual w/ mods! The race was neck 2 neck most of the way BUT we raced about 20miles (no joke!) and about 4 different times. 3 times he would take off and then I'd take off once he was already ahead of me so he had an advantage. Though, the last race we actually went after 3 honks, to be fair and I completely lost him! We took off at the same time and stayed neck 2 neck until about 80 when I started pulling past him. He seemed to top out around 100-110 and I slowly walked away from him as I got up to 127 or 128mph and slowly started to decelerate since it was most definitely over. He was a real nice guy though, and we pulled into a gas station to discuss each other's cars.

friend has a 94 accord with intake and cat back. ran an 18.1 at the track LOL, and a 17.5 wihtout interior. you shouldnt have any problem beating one unless its vtec, then it should be close.

Shadow: so you beat up on him huh ? is your profile right that you have a 1991 gxe just like mine ? 5-speed or auto ? i'm saying that my friend in his accord beat me and your saying you beat one ?! how did i lose ???!

Dummy: well i got beat by my friend and i'm pretty sure that he doesn't have v-tec . . just the original motor that came in his 4 cylinder 94 Accord 5-speed !

Auto of course! Well, it was neck to neck most of the time. I mean, it was almost an even match but every time except the last race, we slowed down after about 100. His car just seemed to top out sooner than mine. I wouldn't really say I beat him bad. It was almost a tie but I was just a little better. I would have smoked him on low-end though. That thing seemed to only take off on the high-end.

thats weird because i could walk my best friends 94 accord ex coupe 5sp in my old car,a 91 stanza gxe.all i had was a stillen altima intake and stillen altima exhaust.so i always thought a auto vg would walk one for sure.i would walk him from start to finish.my car ran a consistent 17.2 at the track. he once ran a 17.5 and then a 17.2.i also beat every auto gxe i came up against(mid to top end only, some low end if they were tired)but i never was beat by any honda(in my town where everything modded is a honda)unless it had the motor from hell!!!!

Some accords are quick some are slow. I ran a couple in my 87 maxima I beat 2, lost to 2 also. I even lost to a modded automagic 4 banger accord . I think all he had was I/H/E but, his better gearing allowed him to pull 1 car on me everytime.
