Hi everyone. I am a little bit concerned.
I was driving my car tonight and I noticed a spark in my rear view mirror, looks like when someone throws a cigarette out of the window, but I was the only car on the road.
A few minutes later I noticed the same thing. I pulled over and nothing was dragging from the bottom. Then it did it again when I was in 5th spd and I was going faster.
Please if anyone has had a problem like that, let me know. I have heard too many "burning cars" on the local radio channel, and I don't want to be the next one.

Check to see if you have a nail or something in your tire. What is the frequency of the sparks? It might possibly be a pulley or something in your engine bay grinding and sparking.

 

maybe your tires are down to the steel bead, thats always fun to watch.

 

How's your exhaust system? (condition, sound, rust?) Maybe it's hot bits of packing/metal mesh thrown out the back?

 

I did find a nail in the rear driverside tire. Also my muffler is rusted through (noise level still normal ;-). I am going to switch the rear tires. It that doesn't cure the problem I will replace the muffler. If not then it means it probably comes from the engine bay. Scary!!
