IMPORTANT QUESTION: Worth the Mods?

i have a 92 gxe, and i've done a bunch of stuff to it over the past couple years, but pretty much all cosmetic or audio (clears, bulbs, tint, dash kit, hyperwhites all around, big clarion/kicker stereo, etc) i'm wondering what everyone's opinions are on whether or not i should do any performance stuff to it (it has 162,000 miles, but i have changed the oil every 300-3500, and started using high mileage motor oil a week after i got it). and i have also replaced pretty much all the major mechanical parts of the engine due to failure over the past years (alternator, radiator, starter, battery, bunch of other stuff). the car runs great, but it does have high mileage, so would it be worth doing stuff to it like an intake, exhaust, and some other stuff. thanks for looking

A y pipe and CAI would be good first mods, not much for your car after that, that will give you much gains.

For VG auto cars I would say you could make the car sound a lot meaner (at least, over 3000rpm anyway) by adding a CAI or popcharger. Then you could make the car handle a lot sharper by doing the wheels/tires, springs and struts, swaybars, subframe connectors. Won't be blazingly fast, but it should be definitely fun to drive if nothing than for the handling

I am in the same situation

There is nothing much we can do for our cars.. Besides wheels and suspention. unless like they said pop charger, y pipe, exhuast..

Unless you wanna be a select few to put nos or super charger..

sad to say but our VG auto 160 horses have to live like that

i'd have to agree, do what you want to do to it, it's your car. by what you say, your car should be in pretty good shape and should last quite a while. there's quite a few here over 200k and one guy said 400k once...had a pic of the odometer too. i would just suggest making sure everything is up to par first, then mod away.

i think you guys are missing alot of info on whats out for us. i think there is more for us than the ve's. just off the top of my head that would yeild performance gains:
y-pipe, cat-back, highflow cat, cai or popcharger, cams, ecu, aftermarket ignition, get the heads and intake manifold ported and polished, underdrive pulley...cant think of anything else. you can always add some nitros or a (custom turbo job )
