Battery Issues

I have a '90 Maxima SE, and something is causing the battery to drain power, requiring me to get a jump if the car hasn't been driven for several hours. It does not drain totally, but enough requiring me to get a jump.

Any ideas/suggestions as to what to look for? What could possibly be causing this power drainage?

Maybe you should also consider the possibility that the battery is no longer able to hold a proper charge. If the battery is still good, then perhaps it's your alternators fault, worn out and not able to charge the battery. You can have both of them tested free at auto-zone, pep-boys, strauss..etc.

If your car never did this before, and you didn't try to install anything prior to this happening, then I would think it's probably the battery or alternator, and not a short.

Good luck.

The Battery is New.. That was what I thought it was at first, so I bought a new one. The alternator tested fine. But if not driven for say a day, the battery drains to the point where the doors lights are dim and theres not enough juice to turn it over to start.

Check out the connections to the battery posts, make sure they're real tight and nice. You might want to take em out and use a wire brush to clean em off, clean off the battery posts also, and check the wires that connect to the battery cable, make sure nothing is loose.

Yea I had the same problem with my 90. At first it was because I had put gas and break pedals that light up and they were connected wrong so it was draining the battery .I fixed that and now it doesnt drain until after like 4 days if i dont use it.
