Good thing this came up. I was thinkin about sendin the car to Maaco cuz I saw a commercial for 200 bux (assuming this is the whole car cuz they didn't say nothin). I was gonna ask my dad for the cash, but I hear they've f*cked up plenty of peoples cars.

If I were you, I'd go down there, and cuss'em out, do whatever til their gonna fix it, or repay ya for all the parts they turned inta sh*t.

Hey man sorry to here about it. I had my car painted at MAACO also, there were more runs then i thought were possible. I made the mistake of just leaving with it to cause i was just excited and didnt really look at it. They had overspray everywere, my valve cover had white speckles and ****, i was ****ed. Anyway i just brought it back and they did it over again and cleaned up most of there mess. Still overspray i can see in some areas.

Isn't there some kind of Better Business Bureau or something? I mean..if this many people have gotten screwed over by Maaco, maybe it's time they hear something of the horrible job they're doing. I dont know though..just a thought.

I always say this

when it comes to paint (and mostly everything else) you always get what you pay for when I had my GXe paint lexus diamond pearl(yeah I like saying it) it was a 2000 paint job and I knew the guy and I did most of the prep and finish work. If you want to sell your car real quick go to macco and pay 200 because in a few months that paint will look like ****, my friend brough his sentra just to get the paint redone because it was faded in some spots and what not, and he was gonna sell it, well once he got the car back he decided to keep it, and now a few months later the paint is starting to show why it cost 200 bucks, when I was working at the body shop the owner told me Macco pays about 20-30 a gal. and he pays over 120 a gal.
oh well lesson learned, and if you ever take your car to any body shop take the rims off, even if you have to borrow donuts from 4 freinds.lol

I got the best Maaco job and I'm happy with it.

I've had expensive paint jobs at nice shops and I can obviously see the difference but for what I paid I am happy with what I got. Only problem I see is on the hood they didn't prep one spot very good and you can see like a dent under the paint or something, but it's not that bad. I better wax this ***** soon or else I am sure I'm going to start losing paint tho, I'm just too lazy, I hate waxing.

PJ

PS-I have no overspray anywhere.

i paid $300 just to paint the rear and mask it off. i told them that i would take off the bumper and rear kit so they dont fuc$ it up. they said it would be ok. i sanded it and did all of the body work. the moth#r ****@rs just had to paint. just paint. thats all i ask. thats it. i took picks so if i have to bring them to court, and i am going to bring the bill for my rims and tires. and for a new rear sway bar, new exhast, and cleaner to get the paint out from under my car and wheel well. MAACO sucks they probably don't know where their own d!cks are. that is there job to paint, and they cannot do that. dumb ****'s. oh well. i work for the US Attorrny's office in NJ and RI, so i am going to talk to them and see what they say. Plus my brother in law is a lawer. so i am going to go nato on there a$$'s. thanks for reponding.

If they agree to pay for it, tell them you'll come up w/ a list of damaged items, and F*ck your car up some more while they're gonna pay for it, raise the prices a lil on how much it was all worth. Then, run off w/ the extra money, and buy somethin useful and call it even.

Maaco has always had a reputation for crappy work. They use newspaper for masking, which allows paint to seep through. They just sand the car a little and paint, which is why their pain falls off after a while, because it's not properly primed. When you get a paint job from them for $200, you sign some sh*t saying to paint the whole car, i guess they use this as an excuse to paint your nice shiney rims too. A lot of people have the same complaint about the wheels.

I have heard MANY people having sucess with the Maaco presidential package. I've seen cars with body full body kits get the presidential and come out looking freaking nice.

If you want a Maaco paint job, sand the car very well yourself, mask it yourself and take it in. If you have any dings, fill it in yourself. You will get a discount for doing the prep work yourself. Also, do NOT do partial paints at Maaco. Meaning, do not just paint a bumper or fender alone, you have to paint the whole car. Maaco does not color match good at all, you'll end up with one section looking like a different color, which is worse IMO than having just bad paint.

A complaint to the BBB and Consumer Affairs will get you ALL your money back and also the cost of anything covered with paint.
Before you guys go to a Maaco, check out if they have any BBB complaints against them, it's public info at BBB.org.

The Maaco here only had 1 complaint and it was resolved. What do ya'll think I should do?? Send it to them or get it done by more professional people?

I dont think

youre gonna get a new muffler or sway bar , you can probably just get some thinner and take it off, the rims are different and the tires may be able to clean, besides I think you have let them try to fix it before you can sue them,

Im sorry if you have gotten screwed over by smaller family places, but I think that might be the best paint job you're gonna get.....at least round here...IMO the best paint and body shop around is a private family owned shop, but they would charge about 1600-1800 to completely paint the maxima. They pull the motor if your changing colors and want under your engine bay painted as well, which will add more money of course...
They also have a full frame shop too incase youd like to piece together something after you flipped it a couple times... (not a good idea..heh....)

Also, this is the place where the city gets their vehicles painted and bodies worked on. The Cop cars, and other city vehicles.... Maybe taking your vehicle to the same place the city does wouldnt be a bad idea.....but im sure if the city operates like most govt things, its probably not the cheapest place around....but we already said that :-D

I need a signature.

if you're going to go to a cheap place to get the paint done, pay a little extra and get some extra clearcoat put on.

Then spend some time to buff down the car when ylu get it back. It will help spread out some of the ripples and waves in the paint to make it look better and last a bit longer. (advice from a friend's dad who details cars)
