cup holders?

Thought of something else I wanted to ask... I got this car as a hand me down... the folks got a brand new 2002 SE very very nice Most everything is good on 90 max but nissan never put in cupholders and I have yet to find a aftermarket product that fits the car.... anyone have any suggestions? small thing but just curious if anyone found something that works.

Nathan

Re: Re: Re: cup holders?

If you have the tray under the head unit, there's a plastic piece you can pull out that converts the tray into a cupholder. It's cheaply made but at least it works... kinda.

I was about to say that. But the bottom of the tray does start to look fugly after a while. Now my tray bottom is greenish gray yellow. VERY FUGLY. So I'm gonna cut out like some felt or velvet and pop it on in there

Will that fit a 3rd Gen Max, specifically a 1992? I'm not too familiar with DIN sizes and all yet (just got my car 2 months ago), but is there a universal size recognized for DINs?

I'm experiencing the same problems with my fugly tray like everyone else, so this looks like a decent "upgrade" from the stock.

what about the cup holders that is attached to the AC vent.
I have one of those and so far i haven't had much complain about it. But am constantly worried if the grills on the ac vent will bear the weight of the drink.

By the way, thats the dash of a SAAB 900 There are cupholder that they make for BMW's that are mounted to the side of the shifter console and fold shut that actually look good. I will look into it.

Oooh! That would be neat. Never thought about doing it that way, but I guess the cups then just hang next to the passenger's legs? Let us know what you find!

Hey DaBoxSE, is this it? http://www.drinkholders.com/

BMW also makes a dual cup holder that fits on the side of 5-series consoles, but they don't fold up and I have NO idea how they attach.

yeah thats the one. I've seen them at the www.bavauto.com store in NH. They have a variety of colors/designs. If they make it in Carbon Fiber I'll jump on one.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: cup holders?

Pop open the tray, then near the top there will be a black plastic piece that sticks out about a cm. Just pull that out and it will cover the tray with two cupholders. It only works well with 12oz soda cans and 8oz coffee cups. Those McDonalds and Taco Bell like cups are just too big for it to keep balanced.

some maximas have the cubbyhole pocket thing, some have a tray that slides in, and you push on it and it pops out. then there's a little plastic peice on top of the tray that acts as a cupholder, though nothing fits in it. look at my cardomain page and it should be in one of the pictures

I wonder if this has ever been discussed before. I really doubt it

(92-94 have cupholder, earlier ones have the fold down tray)
