Belt guard in the passenger wheel well

This thing has been ****ing me off now for about a year. The plastic guard that goes behind the tire of the passenger front wheel well keeps tearing off. The first time, I just bought some self-taping metal screws and bolted the bastard back on there, but then it ripped off again! Now, the think is all ripped up and I don't have any type of guard there to protect my pulleys and belts from the debris kicked up from the tire. What should I do here? Can I just keep running around w/out that piece on there? I figure it's only a matter of time until a rock flies up and hits the pully causing my belt to fly off. I'm sick of this crap! I'm about to just go weld something on there - anyone got a welder?

I have had my splash gaurd off for about 6 months. When ever I hit a big puddle I hear the belts slip thats it.

I got sick of the the thing flapping around on my rims and pulley, so one night driving from boston, I stopped at a gas station and literally ripped it off. Haven't given it a second thought since.
