Tranny question

Hey, i'm back. I've thought about some things and i'm going to start posting again. So, here's my question.
From what i've seen in the search people have asked if the VE tranny will fit on the VG engine. I never really saw an exact answer. Will the tranny just bolt up to the VG and then have the driver side axle changed or what?

don't get a new name and come back and ask the very same question right away, we'll know it's you!

I tell you what.. I've got a blown VE/LSD tranny in a box in the garage. I'll ship it to you.. you see if it fits. if it does, you can either rebuild it (it needs new gears for 2 and 4, new shift forks, and new synchros. about $500 in parts).. OR you can ship it back to me and buy another one somewhere else.

oh yeah, one big reason why i can't find anything on it using search is because we can't search 2 letters. i put something about that on the feedback but got nothing.

well, i found something before but they didn't really answer it too clearly. from what i understood they said the looks are prety much the same except for where the lsd is. they said that to put it on the vg you might have to get different axles. i'm just checking if anyone knows if this is true or even possible. btw, i'm asking all of this cause my stupid tranny is dead. the little shaft thing that the throwout bearing goes on cracked and broke the bearing and also shot oil everywhere inside there making my loose all of my tranny fluid and ruining my clutch... there's no material at all on that clutch. i'm having a ***** of a time trying to find a tranny too for this thing. someone on here has one for 225 but it has 170k miles. i need something way less, say 100k or less cause i want it to match the engine i might be getting this weekend (vg30et). anyone have anything? thanks.

Here is the deal if you can get a VE tranny to bolt to the VG clutch housing you have LSD. If you can spend some $$ and make it fit. If that doesn't work, spend more money and get a quaiffe LSD. Now if that doesn't work you should be riding a bus.

If you want to buy gears to put in it, I'll make you a deal on the case and LSD. $200+ ship.

well why dont you go to a parts store or a junk yard and look in the books that say what will fit what and see if they bolt up. that would be the simplest way to know.

Quaiffe?

Quaiffe doesn't make an LSD for a VG, at least two months ago they didn't. Custom install is the only way..I priced this from a place on the web...Protech quoted 699+labor. They can do many many things while the are in there to beef it up, as long as you can afford it.
By the way, I am looking for a VG trans and found about a dozen or so ranging from 125 to 800 bucks. Try searching man. I can get a rebuildable core, no broken parts, just high miles and probably bad synchros for 100 bucks. On second thought, disregard what I just said, you might snacht up the one I was gonna buy!

to be honest the tranny should fit. however the gear ratios's for a VE trany man be different than those of a VG. as far as the Quaffe is concearned they make them for the RS5F5OA tranny wich is what is in the VG 3rd gen manual, some VE 3rd gen manual, VQ 4th gen manual and the VQ 3rd gen altima manual. it is not listed for the 3rd gen because it was never tested in a 3rd gen vehicle. the Cattman site does list the part being available for RS5F5OA tranny code.

That is true all maxima's from 85-01 used the same 5spd tranny model. Now I know the oem vlsd won't fit because it fits on the opposite side of the differential. The quaiffe on the other hand replaces the stock diff and should fit. However my cheap **** would've tried Matt's blown VE tranny before getting a quaiffe.

the only problem i have with buying matt's tranny is that the rebuilt would cost more than i want to spend. just to fix mine, they said it would be 900 dollars. i just want to find a pretty low mileage tranny for anywhere to 300 dollars.

Well I solved that problem anyway.. the shop kept my old one as a core, when I asked htem to keep it for me. there was another one about 2 hours from here with 25k on the internals and a broken case for cheap.. I was going to take the two broken ones and make one good one out of it, but since I don't even have my shattered gears as a momento.........
