1991 Maxima GXE @ 143535 miles.
Tranny failed @ 65mph while downshifting.
Since it costs ~$2000 for a new tranny, I will most likely dump this car in favor of a 4th or 5th gen.
Currently, I am driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla CE. Not a bad little car actually.

Jeff: I'm not rollin'in the the dough...yet.
Last year of college, looking at grad schools. Besides, I'd take an S4.![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Chris: Sorry, pal. I sold the GReddy months ago.![bonk](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/bonk.gif)
I haven't decided what I'm doing with this car yet either.

Ouch.. it's springtime.. everyone's driving hard and trannies are beginning to warm up again after the winter... this is the 3rd this week.. I'll bet there will be a dozen more in the next two weeks.
still sorry to hear it though man.. if it wsan't so damn $$ to ship a tranny across the country, I'd make you a good deal on my old one.

with the way things are goin in my life right now, i'm waitin for something serious to happen to my max. I have the weirdiest feeling that my tranny is goin to go or sumthin is goin to happen with my engine thats gonna cost me an arm and a leg. I hope not, cause I'm still payin on this thing!!

Hey guys I have a crazy *** idea. Why not goto a junkyard and get a spare core or good tranny for say around $50-150 and have it rebuilt before the stock one dies. This way if it does go out you can just pay the $500 labor to have them swapped out. But then you still have to pay for the rebuild but there will be very little downtime. I believe our maxima was out for about a week when its tranny blew after 183k miles

As soon as I get a quote on the repair bill, I'll see if it's worth it.

SE-R Spec-V looks nice...but, again, I'd have to get used to the interior.
Looks like it'll be 4th gen for me!

Might want to check the sentra forum on www.freshalloy.com about that spec V. Seems they're having paint and tranny problems so far. Might want to wait for the next year's model. Maybe they'll have it sorted out. I've been to the dealers the last couple of days. Almost bought one. They're a bit small though. Cool tranny and other specs, but just not the same as my Max.
