Finally got an engine

It's been about 4 months since I've driven my MAX and I can't wait to get the engine put in. I'm sure no one remembers , but my timing belt broke and this is the cheapest fix. Plus I wanted a new (used) engine anyways.

How much did it cost to get your replacement engine? Are you doing the swap yourself? If so, I'd like to know how it goes

did your engine destroy itself when the belt broke?
seems kinda pricey to get a new engine?
good luck though, hope everything goes well

When the timing belt brakes, the cams stop and the crank keeps crankin. So the pistons slam against the valves then its time to spend a lot of money. I bought a used engine for $636.00 Tax included. The engine has 82000 miles on it. It sounds kind of high but I bought my car in 97 and it had 87000 on it. I replaced the timing belt at 105000 and it broke at 162000. most VG's last well over 160000. So I figure I'll get my $636.00 out of it. We'll I spent about $175.00 more for other parts. Yes I will be doing the work my self.

sounds good. i rememver reading about your timing story though, cause i was searching through "timing belt" threads recently cause i gotta change mine. hmm...so couldn't convince the wife it was time to do the VG-T swap? or just not practical right now? that's probably why i'm hesitant to change the belt, i probably subconsciously want it to break so i can swap in the VGT...anyway, hope everything works out...if it's not too frustrating throwing the engine in, pics would definately be appreciated.

how much for a new engine

I now that my maxima will run for another 60k or so, since i just changed all the water pump and timeing belt... but seriously how much for a new motor... and with a new motor you can add all the mods you want..? get it up from vg 160 hp to 200? or is that not a possibily? or is it just that you need a better tranny to handle more power?

btw good luck on you new used engine

you can add all the mods you want to a

old engine, and I dont know what mods would get you 40hp? plus you just got all that work done to your engine, did you get all that work done that you asked me about? if so you should be goood for a while. I know when I got my gxe tuned up, it had more power then the day I bought it.
