OMG.

a "cone" is what people call cone air filters, a CAI is an intake kit that sucks in cold air, usually from outside the engine bay. it comes w/piping and filter and everything you need.

a filter costs bout $20

a CAI costs about $150 and comes with filter

a CAI will show better gains in hp/tq

isn't a short ram intake the upper tube of a CAI and the filter, and the last i check that is what nopi makes. and the pop is nothing but just the cone filter with an adaptor, so people might mistake it for just the filter and call it a "cone"

My first intake on my Maxima was a short ram. You can't buy a "kit" from a catalog but to say it doesn't exist is silly. I took the CAI piping from a 91 Accord and fitted it to my MAF and it put the filter where the battery is. Oila, short ram.

And which is better depends totally on the engine and application.

There are 2 general types of intakes: CAI and popcharger.

Both use a cone filter, just placed in different places. If money doesn't matter, the CAI is more work to install but considered better. What Dummy forgot to mention is that while a cone filter itself costs about $20, you will have to either make an adapter to fit it or buy an adapter (probably from the same place). Look on eBay for "maxima intake" and you'll see a typical cheap combo (about $40). A "real" popcharger costs about $100 from Custommaxima and a CAI about $150 from Warpspeed.

Use the SEARCH!

how can you guys be calling these things ram systems?
there isnt any ducting to direct the force of the incoming air into throttle body.
all ur doin is puttin a cone filter on the end of a different pipe
anyone that wants real ram air, you gotta make a scoop or a collector somewhere that is in the path of air resistance
and most ram systems dont use cone filters, they use the flat kind, becuase the scoop has to be in a shape to take air in from one side
