Power antenna problem...
#1
This is on my 91GXE, I clean the antenna regularly w/ WD40 and after some fiddling, I discovered a barely perceptible bend in the top couple of sections. I can't seem to bend it back so that it goes completely down under it's own power. Any suggestions? Anyone selling a used antenna (Justin?). How big a job is it to replace it?

Antenna Lube...
I use graphite powder on my '93 GXE and my Pathfinder Antennas, and both work fine. It comes in a small tube, and can be found at any hardware store for about $2. It blows out of the tube and then spread it out with a dry cotton cloth. Power it up and down a few times between applications and do this every 3-4 months, and the antenna will last much longer and work better.

Hummmmm
My antenna goes down ok but doesn't go all the way up.
When it tries to go up it gets stuck at a certain point and the motor makes an annoying sound.
Right now I just put the antenna in the middle so that the motor doesn't connect with it. This works fine except that when I go to a carwash I have to get out and fold the antenna and then after the wash find the right position for it so that the motor doesn't connect with it again.
Anyway I can fix this? The antenna isn't really completely broken.

Hi Roman,
I've read much on the Max antenna problem. It seems to me that the unit isn't reliable enough. Who can guarantee that your new antenna will work good for a long time?
But what's interesting - my antenna seems to be useless. I can't catch any difference in sound quality with it ON vs it is OFF. They say that the defroster stripes on the rear window are a dubbing antenna, and it seems to be true. So ... I keep my antenna in and release it only when far from the city where the signal is low.
