Remote Starter Question
#1
I live in the Northeast and I really want to get a remote starter for my car to warm it up during winter without going outside. Most of the starters also come with keyless entry and some come with an alarm system.
Can someone tell me how hard it is to install one of those. I saw one that has remote start, keyless entry, ignition kill, in one package for under $60! That's pretty cheap I think.
Anyone have any recomendations of which one to get? How hard the install is?
Thanks,
Roman

I wouldn't buy anything that cheap. go for a name brand. we're going to start installing them at my work pretty soon and my car is gonna be the demo. Installation just consists of finding wires and soldering to them i would think.

I am actually looking at two units on ebay.
Check these out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...item=502223679
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...809204&r=0&t=0
The seller's have good feedback although I am not sure if any of the feedback is true or can just be fake. Do you guys think those two units would work. All I really need is remote start, but it would be nice to get the alarm and keyless entry too. The price doesn't seem bad at all.
Your thoughts?
Thanks,
Roman

Was it the exact same model as the one on EBay?
I don't know what could account for the difference but they say that they are the manufacturers of the product so perhaps that is why they are selling them so cheap, then again they can just be B.S.
It looks like they have a lot of good feedback, I am not very experienced with EBay so I don't know if the feedback can somehow be fabricated. I am probably going to wait a few weeks until I get one, I think I will go with the second one on EBay, it includes an alarm as well.

Remote Starter
I have a remote start on my '94 GXE that is by DEI (makers of Viper) with an extended range antenna. It's pretty cool to have (especially during those Midwest Winters). But if I were you, I would save the dough and get an alarm system with remote start capability. That way, you could kill two birds with one stone.
If you still want the remote start, I would look at Circuit City which has the same system I have on my '94 for $169 and they will install it for you.

Car Starter
I put a auto car starter on my max (dam Canadian winters)and the starter that I put on had a optional wire on it that shuts down the factory alarm when you use the keyless entry part of the starter. The greatest thing about it is that the starter came from Wal-Mart and was a pretty good price. The name of the starter company was Bulldog Security Auto Starter and they are online so check it out. I recommend them to anyone and I've installed two already into families cars and they have no problems with them. I work at Wal-Mart so I get them for cheap.(employee discount.) one of the best features that the starter comes with is that you don't have to use a tach signal the auto starter runs with or without a tach signal so it makes it way easier to install. By the way I have printouts that professional installers gave me of the max and it shows everything from the ignition, to accessory, to power door lock wires, to the wire that shuts down the factory alarm when a negative pulse is sent to it. If you want the sheet of paper e-mail me and I'll fax it or e-mail it to you.
