Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong w/ my car? I left it at school during the Thanksgiving week and when I came back yesterday it wouldn't start. My friend
suggested it could be my distributor cap. I don't think it's my spark plugs cuz my brother said they were fairly new. When I turn the key, everything sounds right, but the engine is not starting up. I dunno what to do. I'm stranded til I fix my baby up and running. Does anyone have any ideas that might help??

Thanx,
Anne

A little over a year ago, I wrecked my Max and fu@#$d it up bad. With the $3,000 dollars in damage, I had also ripped off my exhaust all the way to the flex pipe. The wires to the O2 sensor shorted out and blew the "Engine Cont." fuse in the fuse box. Check this, when mine blew, everything sounded fine, just wouldn't start! Changed fuse, fired right up. So, check that!

A lil' more info

1) does it crank (if so does it crank normally)
2) does the warning lights come on
3) do you have spark/fuel
There are three things to make a engine run>> fuel, ignition from spark and heat from compression

could also be your timing belt....if your spark plugs dont work its cause the distributor cap aint being turned by camshaft which runs off belt....to check if your gettin sparks take out a sparkplug wire and put a screwdriver to ...if no sparks fly its your belt.....trust me you wont get shocked...maybe jus a little

I was also gonna say timing belt, thats pretty much what my car did when I lost mine, NOTHING! I turned the key and it went ding-ding, and some dash lights came on, but it was dead silent, didnt turn over at all...

I would check the spark, fuel (you should smell some in your pipe) and make sure no prankster stuck a potatoe in your pipe. Since you had a recent tune-up, look at some of the new parts failing and check fuses. It's been very cold in my neck of the woods, so check for water freezing in the fuel line.
