Ypipe write up
After a lengthy install i got the pipe on. Anyone can do the install, just be prepared to get frustrated a good amount. I must say it is much more satisfying to do it yourself instead of having a shop do the install.
Overall, the gains are good. Its not night and day that N20 could provide but like most people say the mid range is boosted nicely, with a little meaner sound, and the high range is increased and pulls better to the redline. For the first few days i drove around with the WSP CAI. During this time the engine was still slightly choaked in the 5000-6000 rpm range (i have a 5sp VG) but from 3000-5000 the car roared and shot foward with vengence. I noticed that under partial throttle i could hear what sounded like the pipe droning a little, this was most noticeable under load. It wasnt annoying but i was worried about an exhaust leak. Also punching it from idle i could hear and feel a small thump of what sounded like the pipe flexing into the front sway bar or possibly the shifter rod. No bee's in a can sound, and unless i push the car i cant really tell its there, which is great.
Last night i removed the CAI upper to make a HAI. In street driving (a lot of 0-35) the HAI wasnt great but when i got to some open road the top end of my car isnt choaked with the pop-style setup, and pulled very nicely from 3000 to the redline with no straining sound that the VG style CAI gives out at near redline rpms.
All in all the pipe is great, i got the non-mandrel aluminized-steel (sorry for the spelling throughout this whole piece) form warpspeed and would recommened this to anyone not worried about rust, but warpspeed does offer a 4year (i think) no rust through policy on all pipes.
