Throttle Body Cleaning

I spoke with the mechanic today who put in a new injector on my 93 GXE last week after we suddenly experienced rough idling and hesitation. I told him that although the severe roughness and loss of power had been corrected, I now had a slightly rough idle and hesitation that I'd never had before the severe symptoms showed up recently.

He said, as several of you did, that we might try cleaning the throttle body. His estimate to do it was $65.00 which would be in additon to what I'd already paid to have the injector replaced, new plugs, new air filter, etc. Does that sound like a reasonable price. I don't have any tools or a good place to work on the car right now.

Also, I'm still a bit concerned that we are just sort of "hunting and searching" for a solution. The original problem came up with no advance symptoms. If, as the mechanic said, there was a bad injector causing the problem, why would we now have a slightly rough idle and hesitation that was not there before?

I searched the forum archives before writing this and noticed that some others had the same experience (ie. these symptoms coming up after other repairs were done). I'm just a bit confused.

Any insight or opinions on the cost of the proposed throttle body cleaning and why these symptoms now manifest themselves would be appreciated.

Thanks.

DO IT YOUR SELF!!! dude cleaning teh TB is soo EZ!! and fun
-get a can of TB cleaner get the TB gaskets and get a old tooth brush
-by the time your done you should have used up the whole can, spray alot into the intake and scrub around and sh*t
-when you go to start the car it will not turn over the first few times... then when it turns you should see all the carb. being blown out of the tailpipe

- it took me about 2 1/2 hours to do when i had no clue wha t i was doing LOL

good luck.. you realy can'T mess this one up,

Dont pay 60+ on something that takes only 15 minutes to 1 hr of your time. Do it on you spare time... all you need to do is loosen some bolts and move a rubber tube or two...
