Check ebay, I paid $1300 locally to rebuild a third generation Maxima transmission, they also included a 18 month unlimited milleage warranty. No not AAMCO.
If you believe the Pheonix Ebay sales pitch they will sell you a fourth generation transmission with a warranty for around 1000.00. (includes shipping to you and return of your core.) Of course you will have to pay someone $200 or so to swap em out.... but if you are going to spend this kind of money to get a transmission for your car
I would stay away from junkyard transmissions since the typical warranty is 90 days and the prices are > 500.00 for the unit, then 200 or more for the swap out.
And ..... If I spent $700 on a transmission repair I would want a minimum of a 12 month warranty.
I am not affiliated with the guys selling the trannys on E-bay just spent a lot of hours searching for options on the two transmissions I had to have rebuilt for my kids cars. (89 and 92 Maximas.)
You could also call em up since I swear I recall them selling the rebuilt Maxima tranny for <$500.00 for Third generation Maximas.
You could also do a search on this board for replacement transmissions and the prices folks paid, not sure if anyone else has less expensive options.
Good Luck
