Is the Y-pipe and the Crossover pipe the same thing with different names for the maxima? I have a bad exhaust leak and was told by a mechanic i had holes in my crossover pipe. I plan on getting a Y-pipe soon anyway, and if it would fix my exhaust leak, i will buy it even sooner. I'm looking at warpspeed performance's y-pipes.

i think someone already answered this but ok, the thing your mechanic calls a crossover pipe has to be the y-pipe, cause nothing else comes close to crossing over besides that.

Someone already did answer it, but i need to be 100% positive that it's the same thing before i go spend 250 dollars on something that won't fix my leak. So if any mechanic's read this and know, please reply.

I don't know enough about my Max yet to be able to do that, i'm still learning how to fix everything so i wouldn't know where to look.

well i can tell you if you want. the y pipe is the part that comes off of the headers, it has two pices of heat shield around the flange where it starts and another flange where it hooks up to the cat. im telling you, the thing that your mechanic calls a crossover pipe IS the y-pipe, NO possibility of it being anything else, im not a mechanic but ive been workin on max exhaust systems for a long time now. i even helped put dual exhaust on a max. but if you want to be sure it never hurts to just put your car on a jack and take a peek around, thats how you learn.
